Hi I'm Marc

I grew up in Minnesota and Utah. I am a physician, a grandpa, a mission president and I’m a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Minneapolis Minnesota and moved to Bountiful Utah at the start of high school where I played football, was on the debate team and played Prof. Henry Higgins for the high school musical ‘My Fair Lady’. I served a mission for my church in Thailand and returned to pre-med at the University of Utah where I met my wife. My wife and I have the privilege of having 5 wonderful children and 18 grandchildren. I am an infertility specialist doctor in Florida. I have recently been the mission president in North Carolina and am now in Florida, resuming my medical practice. I did my training at Duke University so this is like returning home. I love outdoor activities: back packing, mountain and road biking, climbing and skiing-both groomers and backcountry.I love to be outdoors with my kids and grandchildren hiking, skiing or biking and I love having one on one time as we " talk and walk". I love reading the scriptures and reading funny stories with my grandchidren. I enjoy my Harley and I love to eat sushi and Thai food.

Why I am a Mormon

I come from pioneer- Mormon ancestry. I have always believed in a loving Heavenly Father and in the atonement of Jesus Christ. My foundation strengthened immeasurably while on my mission to Thailand. I witnessed an amazing light and a wonderful spiritual change in people’s lives when they accepted the Gospel and realized that not only does God live, but also that he knows them and loves them personally. Serving in the church in many capacities has blessed my life as well as my family. Personal Story My sweetheart wife recently had a serious health issue requiring emergency surgery, several days in the ICU and rehabilitation therapy. My children and I felt an overwhelming assurance from the Spirit of the Lord during the critical time of her care that she would return to full health and would be able to serve our mission. The prayers of so many have not only been felt, but also have been answered and we will embark on this great mission together because of the love and atonement of our Savoir Jesus Christ

How I live my faith

I love working with the youth. In various leadership positions, we have done a variety of service projects together including working at community charities and food drives. I have had wonderful youth companions helping me visit the homes of members of the church. One of those companions is now serving a mission in eastern Europe and two others are heading in that direction. I have had the pleasure of taking the youth backpacking, canoeing, climbing and mountain biking. I am truly excited to be part of the great work of the Lord with 240 missionaries in North Carolina.
