Hi I'm Cindy

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a mother of one extraordinary and fantastic little nut, and I'm a high school English teacher (currently in search of a classroom.) I love old bookstores and the great outdoors. Whether I'm in a book, a boat, or my vegetable garden, I am a happy girl.

Why I am a Mormon

I was essentially raised with the gospel but never gained a true testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ for myself until I was older. I always believed in God, always loved the principles of the church, the hymns and the words of the General Authorities, but accepting the testimony of Joseph Smith was harder for me. I spent over a decade of my adult life trying to be a good person but without anything tangible to hold onto, I often failed. But then I realized with striking certainty that Heavenly Father answers prayers. If you pray sincerely for an answer, believing that He will answer you...He will. He answers in His own way, and in a way that you will understand. I realized that if He could do this for me in such a real and personal manner, that it was not a stretch that He could answer another's prayer, as well. I know that Heavenly Father answered Joseph Smith's prayer in the grove. And just as Heavenly Father worked through pure of heart youth in the past, as he did with young King Solomon, he also worked through Joseph Smith. These are the "hardest" days--and the most blessed--and He would not leave us without direction.

How I live my faith

I am working as a counselor in the Primary organization, and I love it! I am continuously amazed with our Youth, and I believe they are the most critically important element of our lives.

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

Cindy
I believe that Heavenly Father is always trying to communicate with us. Everyone we meet, every conversation we have, everything we do and see--it all seems to hold a potential lesson. When I started opening to that possibility, I was overwhelmed. I truly REALIZED that Heavenly Father is ACTIVELY engaged in our lives. All we need to do is look for Him. That said, the adversary does not want us to realize this in its full magnitude so he will send distractions to throw us off course. The best way to clearly make the "right" connections is to keep our bodies and our hearts clean. Abstaining from alcohol and other substances helps our brain think more clearly. Doing our best to live by the commandments helps to purify our thoughts and truly helps us get in the right frame of mind. All we have to do is open the door. He lets us know He's there, and there is nothing more beautiful than KNOWING He is with us. Show more Show less
