Hi I'm Caleb Nyland

I'm from Iowa, I am a Missionary in the Idaho Pocatello Mission. I love sharing Christ's Gospel!

About Me

I am the youngest of 7 children and no I was not the spoiled one of the clan. I am currently serving in the Idaho Pocatello Mission and then plan on going into Criminal Justice when I am finished in Feb. 2014. If you really knew me you would think I am crazy and wild. I just love living life to its fullest and enjoy all of the little moments that make it a blast. I love the performing arts and being with my family all the time.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church but when I hit my teenage years I rebelled and fell away. I wanted nothing to do with God or Christ or anything that resembled a religion. After about a couple of years one of my best friends who was his entire life a strong active member and had the biggest Testimonies I've ever seen chose to reach out and make me feel like a good friend. He began by inviting me to go out with him to the movies and to just hang out and be a goofy teenager but every time this guy always found a way to share a Gospel message with me. About a year went by and I was starting to come back into the church a bit and that is when he passed away. At that moment I was frustrated on how could a guy who loved Heavenly Father with his whole body go at such a young age. At his funeral I prayed for the first time ever in years to know what does God want of me. At that moment I felt the most peace and love that I have ever felt in my entire life. I knew then that God answers prayers and he loves all of us.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by serving as a Full-Time Missionary in the Idaho Pocatello Mission. I always look for many opportunities to serve my fellow men and always hope that I can get at least one person to smile every day. Even before the Mission life came about I was the one person people said that they could rely on for a good spirit boost is what they say. I replied "It's the way that the Church has raised me and I don't plan on stopping because I love my church!"

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Caleb Nyland
No they do not. As members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints we are to give service to all who stand in need. It doesn't matter if you are Jewish, Muslim, Catholic, Hindu, or any other religious denomination. We believe in giving service to all of God's children here on the earth. Show more Show less

What is being a Mormon like?

Caleb Nyland
Being a member of the LDS church is really nothing I throw out there to people. I'm human just like everyone else and do the same things that you may even do. The only real difference would have to be that as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is that it helps me become the person our Heavenly Father wants me to become. Being LDS brings me much joy and happiness and knowledge that there is more to come. I don't consider the church putting "rules" on us. In fact I consider them helpful tips to enjoy my life to its fullest. Show more Show less

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

Caleb Nyland
Mormon Missionaries teach everyone they meet about the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. Also their main thing they will teach is that our Heavenly Father has a plan for all of us to follow so that we at one day may return to live with him again. Show more Show less

Do Mormons practice polygamy?

What is the role of the husband and the wife in the family?

Caleb Nyland
Becoming a responsible parent is something that is highly valued in the eyes of our Heavenly Father. He himself is nothing more the a FATHER who loves and cares for all of his children. Both Husband and Wife have the same amount of responsibility to each other as the provide and care for all of their children. We are blessed to be able to provide for some of our Heavenly Fathers children and with that calls for some serious commitment to do all things needed to be able to provide for all of our children.
