Hi I'm Shane C. Sargent

I'm a Mormon. I live on the seacoast of New Hampshire. I am married with 4 beautiful kids.

About Me

I live on the seacoast of New Hampshire and work for Liberty Mutual Insurance as an IT Project Manager. I obtained a BA in Anthropology from Plymouth State University in 2001 and obtained an MS in Information Technology from Southern New Hampshire University in 2010. Some of my hobbies include - Spending time with family, Gaming (table top RGPs and PC gaming), and Soccer.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised Catholic and went to a Catholic church and Sunday school until I was in 5th grade when I was given a choice of whether or not I wanted to continue going to church. Even though I chose not to continue, that early experience gave me a foundation in Jesus Christ. When I joined the Marine Corps in 1995, I became good friends with a Mormon. When I came home from the Corps, a close high-school friend of mine was getting the discussions from LDS Missionaries. Several years later, I met my wife, who was also a Mormon. I took up the missionaries challenge to pray if the Book of Mormon and the restoration of the Gospel was true. I quickly gained a testimony that it was. The Holy Spirit bore witness to me of His restored church.

How I live my faith

I'm an active member of my church community. Currently I serve as the 2nd councilor in our ward's bishopric. I also assist our missionaries in preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. I find this service extremely rewarding.

How can I know Mormonism is true?

Shane C. Sargent
When I was learning about the church I was shown a couple of verses in Moroni, 10:4-5. I felt that I should do as instructed in the scriptures and pray for myself to learn if the Book of Mormon and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints was true. Heavenly Father, or God, provided me that answer through the Holy Ghost. I continue to pray to God daily as I seek answers to many of life's questions. Show more Show less
