Hi I'm Catie

I'm a pop culture geek, a vintage clothing lover, a classic movie watcher and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hi. I'm Catie. I have had an epilepsy/partial seizure disorder for 15 years and am on medication but that doesn't stop me from living my life. I love working as a preschool teacher for 4 and 5 year old children. I have both an Associates and a Bachelor's Degree. I love learning about interesting things. If I could audit classes I would take them for the rest of my life. I am addicted to books and am awfully fond of historical fiction, sci-fi, fantasy genres. I love cooking and see it as a supreme art form. I am a pop-culture geek and will often quote movies a lot. I love vintage things, they connect me with the past. I love learning about what life was like then. I love to sing with my sisters, we have a harmony that isn't found anywhere else. I have also been known to have almost perfect pitch. I love to sing jazz and am pretty darn good at it. I intensely love all kinds of music and dancing to it by myself, on occasion. I LOVE classic rock and roll. I like nature. I might be allergic to half of it but that doesn't mean I can't appreciate it through pictures and in movies. The world is a beautiful place if you look closely enough. I love the wonders of nature and am spellbound by the tiniest details in life that most people miss.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been Mormon for my whole life, but was because I chose to be a Mormon. My parents always taught me and my siblings that we each had to know for ourselves. Because of that, I believe in the fundamental elements of my faith because I have studied and learned for myself. It was important to me to be truly converted in my mind and in my heart. I know this is a faith of personal progression. I have the opportunity to always be progressing in my knowledge of God, his divine character and relationship with me as his precious daughter. God is paramount in my priorities and as I sift through the big and small things in my life, I know he is there and he is constant- even when I am not. The teachings and doctrines of this gospel truly testify of Christ and I feel of their truths in my heart and they deeply resonate with me. I know we have a true and living prophet on the earth today and he is Thomas S. Monson. He is called of God and holds all the priesthood keys and authority. I have gained a sure and true testimony of the Book of Mormon and I know it is true and it has brought me closer to Christ. I know that Joseph Smith did see God and Jesus Christ. I know he translated the Book of Mormon with inspiration from God. Jesus Christ suffered and atoned for not only our sins, but all of our pains, sicknesses and infirmities. I know he is real. I have taken the time to obtain a knowledge and testimony of all these things for they truly bring me great happiness.

How I live my faith

I simply love people. I see their greatness and potential as if through the eyes of God. Everyone deserves to know that they are needed and cared for. That is evident in the example of the life of Jesus Christ and it's what motivates me to do more. He truly cared for the one. I live my faith by consistently keeping the commandments and honoring the sacred covenants that I have made with God. My personal study of scripture and daily prayer in the morning and night, provide me with the strength and spirit I need to help lift and cheer the people I come in contact with every day. I serve as a Sunday School teacher and that has continued to strengthen my understanding in doctrine as I teach others. I also have volunteered my time to serve in the Provo Temple as a worker for a short time and have gained a deeper understanding of how I can love others as the Savior would. These continue to be the purest and most refining of experiences that shape my faith and desire to do what is right.
