Hi I'm Linda

I grew up in Nevada and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have four grown daughters so my husband and I are in the next phase of our lives. I teach early morning Seminary in our area every day which has been one of the hardest things I've ever loved doing. I play on a Ladies Doubles Tennis League which is new for me this year.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up as a member of the church so my conversion came slowly line upon line of learning to live each gospel principle. I had a few rocky teenage years but since my adulthood have never doubted that the church was true. Recently I heard a quote by one of the general authorities that stated, "The great test of life is obedience." It sounds so simple and yet it takes a lifetime of refocusing, repenting, recommitting, and regular attendance and participation to achieve. I am so thankful for the direction that being a member of the church has given not only me but my family as well.

How I live my faith

Each day I turn off my alarm at 4:30 a.m. and begin my preparation to teach another early morning class of Seminary at 6:00 a.m. for some of the teenagers attending our nearby high school. My class consists of students ranging from freshman to seniors, so it is a wonderful challenge. We are studying the Old Testament this year and I have found that being familiar with a bible story is completely different from teaching the scriptures. I have found myself preparing about an hour an a half at least each afternoon for the next days lesson. The students are so wonderful and many come with an eagerness for the gospel that I know I didn't possess at their age. This is my first year teaching seminary and learning how to invite and encourage gospel discussion in our classroom so that the students can have the spirit be the real teacher has been something I have been trying improve on all year. Studying the Old Testament has enhanced my understanding of the importance of the Abrahamic Covenant and helped me better realize the blessings of being a member of the House of Israel. Those same promises and blessings can be mine if I will just live worthily to receive them.

What is being a Mormon like?

Linda
I have faith that by making the choice each day to follow the teachings of Jesus I will receive his greatest blessings. Being a Mormon is the path that I have chosen to return again to my Heavenly Father. Many might see being obedient to some of the standards of personal worthiness for Mormons as restrictive, but I find just the opposite. I know that by making correct decisions and living my religion actually brings me more freedom. Freedom from a life filled with addictions and heartache. Happiness in knowing where I came from and why I am here. My life seems purposeful and I know the way to find joy in daily living for myself. Show more Show less
