Hi I'm Anna

I am a student at the University of Utah. I am a music education major and, I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Michigan, and I am the oldest person in my family. I also happen to be the only girl. I am a senior in the music education program at the University of Utah. I am a classical singer, and I have sung all over the world. My choir and I have traveled to Israel and Spain for choir competitions. I love to hike all over Utah. I love to be outdoors, and I love to see amazing things around Utah. I currently work at Oakcrest girl's camp as a camp counselor. I work with girls who are 13-14 years old, and they are taught the gospel for the whole week. They don't just sit in classes the whole time though. We teach them archery, give them a ride on the zip-line, and teach them many camp songs. I hope that one day I will be able to teach choir to high school students.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church, and I have been a member ever since. There have definitely been rough patches in my life, but I have always made it through with the help of my Heavenly Father. I don't really have a huge conversion story, I just know that I have constantly felt my Heavenly Father's love and I have seen His hand guiding me to do what is going to make me the happiest. I love having something in my incredibly unstable life to hold fast to. I know that as much as I change, the principles of the gospel will stay the same. I love knowing that my family can be together forever. I love the knowledge that I have a personal relationship with my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He knows exactly what I have gone through, and he understands exactly how I feel. I know that this is the only way to true happiness. I believe that if I stay close to the Lord and keep the commandments I will be able to be eternally happy with my family.

How I live my faith

I attend church every Sunday. My callings include leading the congregation in hymns, supervising our visiting teaching (every woman is assigned another woman to visit every month to make sure that she is doing well) sisters, and coordinating the music for the Sunday meetings. I visit two women in the ward, and they are some of my favorite ladies in the ward. In my Single's ward we have an activity almost every day of the week. Our main activity is always held on Monday night for family home evening (FHE). We call it this because when you are living away from home your ward becomes your family.

What blessings can you receive from reading the Book of Mormon, the Bible, and other scriptures?

I have heard it said that if you want to talk to God you pray, and if you want him to talk to you open up your scriptures. The scriptures are where I find so many of my answers to life's questions. It may be a little difficult to understand them, but when I start my study with a prayer I understand and apply them so much better. I love reading about other people's experiences and how they deal with difficult situations. It makes me feel better to know that I am not the only person who has gone through hard things.
