Hi I'm Eric

I work as a web developer. I recently married my best friend. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I work as a web developer in Utah. I grew up in mid-western United States. I was a missionary for my church for two years in Ireland and Northern Ireland. I was a counselor for 9-10 year olds at a summer camp for two years. I played football and basketball in high school. I prefer reading nonfiction books. I like to do all the normal fun stuff such as watching movies, playing games and hanging out with friends.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born a member of the church. My parents are faithful members and have raised me to be a faithful member. As an adult I choose to stay a member of the church because I realize the powerful effect it has on my life. The best way to know if the church doctrine is God's is to live it. It has never let me down, unlike other things I've tried. Many people just believe what people, school or science have taught them. Do your own experiments. Try praying to God. Try reading the scriptures. Ask God for his Spirit to be with you. Feel the difference on days you pray and days you don't pray. Try this with The Book of Mormon. God is more loving and kinder than you can imagine. You will be amazed what happens.

How I live my faith

I pray and read scriptures everyday. I find that when I do I feel a peaceful, calm, amazing feeling is with me all day. I know that this is God's Spirit. Nothing else in my life gives me that. I am an active member and attend church every Sunday. I also love to visit the LDS temples. That is were I can go to feel especially close to God. The church provides many opportunities to serve both people who are church members and people who are not members. I enjoy filling these opportunities. I know that God blesses me when I do my best in serving others.

Where did Mormonism and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints begin?

Eric
In the spring of 1820, a 14-year-old boy named Joseph Smith went into a grove of trees near his home in Palmyra, New York, and prayed to learn which church he should join. In answer to his prayer, God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ, appeared to him, just as heavenly beings had appeared to prophets like Moses and Paul in biblical times. Joseph learned that the Church originally organized by Jesus Christ during His mortal ministry was no longer on the earth. Joseph Smith was chosen by God to restore the Church of Jesus Christ to the earth. During the next 10 years, Joseph was visited by other heavenly messengers, translated the Book of Mormon by the gift and power of God, and received authority to organize the Church. The Church was organized in Fayette, New York, on 6 April 1830, under the leadership of Joseph Smith. It has grown to an organization with members and congregations throughout the world.
