Hi I'm Jillian

I love potatoes. And writing songs. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love a lot of things. My family, camping, cooking, hiking, fishing, flying kites, hunting, playing basketball, running, hanging with friends, Idaho, music, sunshine, cookies, almond fudge ice cream, pork chops, taking naps, dressing up, getting messy, getting to sleep in occasionally, spending time on the internet, and lots of other wonderful things. I graduated from BYU in April 2013, and have been pretty stoked about writing songs and learning to record my own music. I graduated with a major in Media Music (BYU's best major). I'm also received a minor in business (I was originally going to major in Accounting, but music and songwriting drew me in. I still love business, though). I've played the piano since 4th grade, the oboe since 5th grade, random various percussion instruments since 6th grade, and I just picked up the guitar this past summer. I started out writing piano/vocal songs, but love writing for guitar now, as well. But, onto the GOOD stuff--I'm a missionary in the Oklahoma Oklahoma City Mission! I'm developing my relationship with my Savior.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the LDS (Mormon) church and taught of Christ's gospel from a young age. I grew up in a predominantly Mormon community, and as such was surrounded by all different kinds of Mormons. I was able to see others make choices, and make choices for myself, and I've found the most happiness in following God's commandments and trusting in the Lord. There is great peace and love and joy in being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and it is a peace that I miss whenever I'm not doing all the things that I should be doing. I'm a Mormon because the teachings of the Mormon church strengthen me. They give me power to overcome sadness and doubt and sin. I've had experiences that help me to know that Jesus Christ died for me, that He atoned for my sins, for me personally. Something I really love about the Mormon church is the promise of eternal families. My family is one of my most favorite things. I couldn't imagine living this life without them, and I can't imagine spending the rest of eternity without them. There is a way for families to be together forever. I'll get to see my loved ones again who have already passed on from this life. Sometime in the future I will be married and raise children, and because of God's great plan, they are also a part of my eternity. I find great satisfaction and blessings in keeping the commandments that we are given from God as members of the Mormon church. They are commandments that, if kept, will bless all mankind, not just members of my faith. Not only spiritual blessings, but physical and temporal blessings. I love being happy and I love helping others be happy. I love that I'm a member of a church that can help me in ways that I need to be helped.

How I live my faith

I'm serving a full-time (18-month) mission for the LDS Church in Oklahoma! I'm teaching others about the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and about God's Plan of Happiness for all of us. I study for 2 hours every morning before I go out to teach God's children! I live by the missionary standards as taught in the White Handbook and Preach My Gospel. My faith is a part of who I am. I hope that by the way I live others can see how much I love God and His Son, my Savior. I'm striving to live a life that is pleasing to Them and pleasing to myself.
