Hi I'm Jim

I'm a Mormon. On 1/21/12 I was baptized with water and 1/22/12 I received a baptism of the Holy Spirit.

About Me

I was appointed by two of Pennsylvania's former Governors in 8/19/99, and 7/12/02, to be a member of the "Pennsylvania Statewide Independent Living Council". I earned both BA (1975) and MS (1982) degrees from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania. I also lived and worked in southeastern Alaska, for parts of three years, where I was primarily employed by Sheldon Jackson College (Sitka, AK). I am a creative writer (i.e., poet) whose work has garnerd, and continues to receive, some national attention. Further, in September of 2004, I was notified that I was approved to receive a grant from the "Pennsylvania Partners in the Arts Project Stream" (a Re-grant Program of the "Pennsylvania Council in the Arts") for the grant year 2004-2005. The grant was awarded to advance and support my writing endeavors. Also, my writing has a high presence on the Internet and if you “Google” the following phrase: “The poetry of James Magill” this will be readily pointed out.

Why I am a Mormon

I have had contact with the Mormon people throughout much of my life. In the past, I have read the Book of Mormon and I knew in my heart that it was true. Based on my experiences, and studies, I came to believe that the correct path for me to take was to become a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

How I live my faith

I am a person with multiple physical disabilities who uses a power chair. Life is not easy for me but I like to be known for not complaining about my situation or circumstances. Perhaps the aforementioned is the best example of my faith applied that I can offer --- for it is only by the grace of Jesus Christ that I endure what I have to quietly. In my ward I attempt to attend church as much as my physical status will allow, I have given a presentation on Amateur Radio operations at my Stake Center (Williamsport, PA), and I hope that others can see the love of Jesus Christ in my eyes and feel it in my heart.
