Hi I'm Russ

It's great to live in Carlsbad, Ca. I cherish my family, friends, athletics, and vacations.

About Me

I'm a California native! I love being with my family, love exercising especially racquetball and biking. I love the outdoors; hiking, fishing, water skiing, and camping. I'm still deciding what I want to do when I grow up. My family consists of all females, besides myself; my wife, four daughters, and our dog Maggie. I'm self employed as a CPA preparing taxes for small businesses.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a large family of 5 boys and 2 girls. We were taught to love the Lord and love our Neighbors. There is a special feeling that comes from serving others and trying to follow the example of Jesus Christ. I love being a member of a church that teaches about the purpose of life, provides directions about making important decisions, and how to overcome trials and challenges. At 19 years old, I served a mission to the people of London England. Leaving the comforts of home and working full time preaching the gospel has changed my life. I recall looking into the eyes of those who embraced the gospel of Jesus Christ and the happiness that comes from accepting his teachings. During these two years, my beliefs became knowledge about the truthfulness of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. Those two years are the foundation of my knowledge about the truth of my faith. The marriage to my wife and the birth of each of my daughters are very special moments in my life. I continue to have faith in Jesus Christ, and keep his commandments because by doing so we can live as families again after this earth life is over. I have continued to study the bible and other scriptures to know how to be a father, husband, how to raise teen age girls, and combat the trials in life. No one said this life would be easy. My approach to enjoying life is to count my blessings. By doing so, the best things in life overtake all the trials and challenges. I'm constantly reminded to stay humble and be grateful. That's why I'm a Mormon!!!

How I live my faith

When life is over, it doesn't matter how much money is in the bank or how successful we are at work. Our eternal destiny and happiness is built on relationships, charity, and our actions in this life. I know from patience and trials that happiness comes from making the best choices. Sometimes we make a wrong choice, it's what life is about. We need to mend the errors of our ways and try better the next time. We are here to learn and grow from our experiences, some positive and some negative. I wear many hats in my life. A father and husband to my wife and family, a tax preparer to clients, volunteer worker in a church calling, coaching when my daughters were active in soccer. Sometime I have time for some sleep. It's important each day to remember our destiny on earth and what's most important in life. We are here to learn to love everyone, especially our family, friends, and neighbors. I always try to forgive those who aren't so kind. It's difficult, but I even try to love my enemies, it makes life more interesting. Most times, enemies are puzzled why someone is not getting even. Some days are tougher than others, but a special spirit comes from living what I know to be true.

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

Russ
Although the sacrifice of serving a mission is difficult for a young man or woman, it's often said it's the best two years of that missionaries life. When one gives of their time, talents, and commitment to share the good news, the Lord will not only bless those they teach, but create a foundation to assist the missionary themselves for the rest of their life. I have no regrets of serving my mission. If fact, I plan on serving again with my wife when my youngest daughter leaves the nest. Missionaries are prepared to share messages that will bring true happiness that doesn't fade with the lights and the music. If you see them at your door or on the street, I recommend taking a few minutes to see what they have to say. It could very well be that life changing moment you are seeking for. Show more Show less
