Hi I'm Emily

I'm an actress, I'm working on the Great American Novel, I love music, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a college student, studying theater education and English. Someday, when I finish, I want to be a high school teacher. I love acting, but I find the greatest joy in teaching and passing on the love of theater. I love the written word, so a lot of my time goes into reading books and even writing some of my own. If any of those ever end up finished, I'll probably try to get them published. Hopefully, I'll be able to add some great writing to the world. I really love making things, so I like sewing and knitting. Most people make fun of me for that (apparently, knitting is a grandmother activity), but I notice they don't mind getting knitted things for Christmas, and getting a request to sew a prom dress is not an uncommon happening for me. Most of all, I love learning. Whether it be a new language, a new recipe, or a new song on the piano, I love learning new things. I am currently serving a mission and will be preaching the Lord's Gospel to the people of western Honduras for 18 months. I could not be more excited for this time that I have to serve God and His children.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up with the gospel of Christ, so my conversion was a very gradual one, almost so much that I didn't notice it. When I was a small child, I knew that Jesus was my savior, and that this was His church. It was simple, because everything is simple when you are little. As I grew up, life got more complicated, because it always does. But the one thing that never became confusing and unclear was this gospel. It remained, constant and true. When everything is a jumble of noise, this is my peace: I am a daughter of God, and He loves me. He wants me to return to Him. In order to have me home again, He sent His son, Jesus Christ, to atone for my sins and for the sins of all of His children. By following Christ, I can indeed come home to my Father in heaven, and this is what I desire above all else. This is Christ's gospel and His church, and by following the teachings of the Gospel, I draw closer to Christ, and strive to become more like Him. Through Him, I can obtain the sweetest and greatest joy, and this is what He wants for me. I am where He wants me to be, and I bear testimony of that.

How I live my faith

Because I have been so greatly blessed, I do my best to bless the lives of others. As I interact with those around me each day, I remember that they are God's children, and just as He loves me, He loves each person on this earth. Through kindness in word and deed and simple acts of service, I strive to see others as their Heavenly Father sees them, and to develop the deep and perfect love that He has for them.
