Hi I'm Fred Vander Werff

I am a man of many names. I am currently serving a mission in Portland, Oregon. And I am a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Utah. Through out High School I loved doing anything really. I danced on my school's ballroom team. I was also a radio DJ. Like most teenagers I liked hanging out with friends, watching movies, listening to music, going out on dates, whatever. One of my favorite motto's is "Life is like clouds. There are two types of clouds, storm clouds and normal clouds. There is always a silver lining in between these clouds. It is like a sliver sandwich. So when life gets you down take a bite of the silver sandwich! " Yes that is from Avatar. I am also kind of a nerd.

Why I am a Mormon

I was in the church all of my life. I never really questioned the church because it made sense to me and I saw how God helped me in my life. Eventually I needed to find out for myself if this was really the true church of God or if it was just one big lie. So I read my scriptures and and went to the ultimate source of truth. I prayed and asked God if all of this was true. I remember the feeling I had. It told me that this was the true church, the Book of Mormon is true, and Joseph Smith was a prophet. I could not deny the feeling. It is the reason why I am in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

How I live my faith

I am right now serving as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints in Portland, Oregon in the language of Spanish. I teach people the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. And just like Jesus Christ, I help people in any way I can.
