Hi I'm Dale

I'm a husband, father of 4 kids, a molecular biologist and a Mormon.

About Me

I have a Ph.D. in biological sciences and work as a research scientist in a small biotechnology company. I love using the principles of science to try to understand the world around us and to solve problems. I also enjoy reading, gardening and working around the house. My family is the most important part of my life. I enjoy spending time with my wife and 4 children. The greatest joys of my life have come through my family relationships.

Why I am a Mormon

At its core, religion is about having a personal relationship and communion with God. I grew up in a home with parents who loved me unconditionally and taught me the gospel of Jesus Christ from the time I was a small child. They taught me that I am not here by accident, but as part of a plan of a loving Heavenly Father who wants me to be happy and to qualify to return to Him some day. They also taught me that we can be together forever as a family through Heavenly Father's plan. That knowledge has given me purpose, strength, peace and courage in hard times. My parents taught me that I can pray to receive help and guidance from Heavenly Father. I have tested that promise many times and have felt His love and received His help on a very personal level. I know He lives and that He loves me personally. I have also come to know and feel the love of His son Jesus Christ. These experiences have made me want to live the gospel and share it with others so that they can also experience the joy and peace it brings. I have also observed that living the gospel strengthens our family and gives my children strength to make good decisions and find happiness in life.

How I live my faith

The most important thing I do to live my faith is daily personal prayer and scripture study. Personal prayers are an opportunity to give thanks, to account to God for the way I am living my life and to seek His guidance in decisions and challenges. We can pray for help on any matter, whether it is a technical problem at work, a challenge with a family member or a friend in need of help. We also pray together as a family morning and night and read a few verses of scripture each day. I try to be active in service within my family, in the church and in the community. I have found that serving others brings a lot of joy and happiness in my life.
