Hi I'm Tyler Nelson

I'm a Musician, avid Scouter, I love to be outdoors, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I like to play musical instruments. I play the Saxophone and Tuba. I have also participated in Drum Corps. International in the Thunder Drum and Bugle Corp, playing baritone. I have been very invovled in the Boy Scouts of America, including becoming an Eagle Scout, working at a scout camp, and working in the NYLT (National Youth Leadership Training) program. I enjoy hiking, fishing, backpacking, rafting, camping, and other outdoor activities. My family is extremely important to me, and like many people I didn't realize it when I was younger. Once I actually started listening in church, and applying the things that I've learned I realized the importance of being together as a family forever. I wouldn't want to leave this life without knowing that I can see and be with my family forever. Even though death is a part of life, it's not the end. I am confident in this declaration, and know that God has a plan for all of his children. On a large scale, and on an individual scale. It's all about finding out what's right for you.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church. I am very fortunate in that way. As I have grown up in the Gospel of Jesus Christ I have found great direction in my life. I always know where I'm supposed to go and how to govern my life. This restored gospel has given me great morals that have helped me to keep my life on track. I truly know that this is God's kingdom back on the earth again.

How I live my faith

Throughout my younger years I have served as a youth leader in the church youth groups. I study the scriptures and do my best to attain a knowledge of what God's will is for me. I pray often to become closer to our Father in Heaven. I'm like any other young adult, I have many dreams and aspirations and through living the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ I have gained a strong divine direction. I am currently serving a mission in the Canada Toronto mission, and enjoying every minute of it. The work of helping others become greater is the greatest work on Earth, and I hope to be able to aid in that for the rest of my life.

What is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' attitude regarding homosexuality and same sex marriage?

Tyler Nelson
For those who struggle with this, we love them and know that they can overcome these feelings. Just as smoking, drinking, and doing drugs is an addiction and a temptation, homosexuality is also a temptation that can be overcome as we turn to Jesus Christ. We accept the people who have these feelings, but we do not accept the feelings, as they do not agree with the Gospel of Jesus Christ as found in the Bible and Book of Mormon. Show more Show less
