Hi I'm Elisha

I'm an elephant enthusiast, amateur baker, lover of books, university student, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a twenty year old college student majoring in Latin American Studies. I love everything to do with elephants. They make me so happy! I love baking and trying out new recipes. Making a recipe better is one of the best feelings in the world. I love old movies and Audrey Hepburn. I'm a student at Brigham Young University and I love my school, especially it's mission to become educated to better serve our families and communities. I want to put that education to good use and go forth to serve all I come in contact with.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a member of His church because it makes sense to me. Yes, I grew up in this church but as I've grown up I've wanted to know for myself. I knew my parents and my older siblings knew it was true but I didn't know yet. When I was fifteen I finished the Book of Mormon for the first time. After I finished, I knelt down and asked my Heavenly Father if it was true and I felt so strongly that it was. It was such a comforting thing, to know for sure that what I had been taught my whole life was true. Once I knew that I wanted to be a better person. I had always known how I should be but at that point I actually wanted to be the person Heavenly Father wanted me to be. I'm not perfect but I'm trying. I guess that's one of the main reasons I'm a Mormon. You don't have to be perfect. I think a lot of people think that Mormons have to be perfect but we are all trying like everyone else. You need to do your best but Heavenly Father doesn't expect you to be perfect right now. When we make mistakes we can repent because Jesus Christ atoned for our sins. We can become perfect through Christ. He made it possible to become perfect. This gospel is about becoming what Heavenly Father wants us to be.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by doing the little things. In the Book of Mormon it says that by small and simple things are great things brought to pass. For me those small and simple things are things like reading my scriptures and saying my prayers everyday. The small things like thinking of others before I think of myself. These things seem so small but they make me happy and they help me become closer to my Heavenly Father. This happiness and peace I feel from living this gospel makes me want to keep living the way I do.
