Hi I'm Tate

I love the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I am going to school to study Linguistics. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am an enthusiastic college student who loves learning. I love to read and sing and be active. I like to do challenging things and to accomplish the goals that I set for myself. There are 8 people in my family and I love them all very much. Friends and family are very important to me and I love being strengthened by the power of other people's faith in Jesus Christ. I served a full time mission in Santiago, Chile and it has changed my life. I love the Chilean people and the Spanish language. I am grateful to my Heavenly Father for giving me this privilege.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that this the church of Jesus Christ. I have prayed and asked many times to know if that is true and if he restored this church through the prophet Joseph Smith. I have felt the confirmation of love and light that it is true. I know it is! I love that God gives each and every one of his children the opportunity to know for themselves his eternal truths. He is the owner of all truths and imparts them as he will. What he asks if we want to know how to follow him is to "ask of God, who giveth to all men liberally and upbraideth not and it shall be given him" (James 1:5). I love the Lord and the plan he has for us!

How I live my faith

I live my faith by studying the Scriptures and trying to live what I learn from them. A big part of how I live my faith is acting on the impressions that God gives me through the Holy Ghost. I am so grateful for His guidance! It isn't always easy to follow but it always is the best option for my happiness! I enjoy reading the Scriptures with friends and roommates while I go to college and to go to the temple. The temple is a source of spiritual strength and an anchor in my life. I love how I feel when I visit the temple.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Tate
The Atonement of Jesus Christ is the means by which we can become the people God wants us to become and to be capable of living in His presences once again in happiness. The Atonement consists of Christ suffering the sins of all the world, of his death on the cross, and of his miraculous resurrection from the Grave the third day. Through this Jesus Christ overcame sin and death and became their master. He is able to forgive our sins because he has paid the price. He can now assign us a new price- that price is sincere repentance and a life of our best effort to follow him. I am so grateful for this! I love the beautiful symbolism that is explained in the Scriptures and hymns. When we let the Atonement change us we become sons and daughters of Christ, we are called by his name. He is the Father when we are reborn spiritually through baptism (Mosiah 5: 7). We are called his and bear his name. He was "born that man no more may die, born to raise the sons of earth, born to give them second birth" (Hark! The Herald Angels Sing). He died to fulfill the plan, to be the mediator. He did this and I so testify that I know and have felt the power of it. Show more Show less
