Hi I'm Justena

I am a sister, a daughter and a friend. I am also a ward missionary soon to be full time missionary and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I was blessed to be born and raised with my three sisters in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and this is one of the greatest privileges I have ever received. Not a day goes by that I don't have a reason to be thankful for this amazing gift! We grew up, with the gospel at the center of our lives with the instruction, guidance and wonderful example of our strong and faithful mother. Besides spending time with my amazing family and increasing my knowledge and understanding of the Gospel, I also grew up raising, nurturing, caring for and showing animals. As such I love to ride horses, if I could all day I would! I am also a writer wannabe and love to write mostly fantasy fiction. I am a part time student, currently working towards an AS in Marine science and I work part time as a kennel attendant/receptionist at my local Humane Society, where we rescue, rehabilitate and adopt out Dogs and Cats to forever homes. I love working with and helping animals, and am undecided as of yet where my career choice will land. Though I am strongly leaning towards becoming a registered Vet Tech, but I also have a dream of working with dolphins and other marine mammals, so maybe I will become a Marine Vet Tech, I don't know. But while my future is uncertain in that aspect, I know exactly what I will be doing for the next 18 months as I eagerly look forward to serving in the Tucson AZ mission.

Why I am a Mormon

Being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is one of the greatest blessing and privileges of the wonderful life I have been given. I love being a member and I would not be who I am today without the gift of the gospel and its guiding principles. The reason I am who I am is because of the church and if I didn't have it in my life, I would be a completely different person. Because I have the gift of the gospel in my life I know who I am, where I’m ultimately going, and all that is required of me to achieve that goal. It gives my life meaning, purpose and direction, that if I didn't have the gospel I would otherwise be lacking, leaving me lost and wandering aimlessly in the dark. As I have been raised in the Gospel and followed it's teachings and applied it's principles in my own life I have gained a personal testimony of my own of truths of the Gospel. I KNOW that God lives, that He loves me with incomprehensible love, this is manifest in all of the beauty and wonder that surrounds me. God loved me so much that He sent His beloved son, Jesus Christ to suffer and die for me and in doing so atone for my sins, so that if I would follow His perfect example and repent and endure to the end, that I might return to live with them once again. I know that Joseph Smith was called to be a Prophet of God, to restore the true church of Jesus Christ and to translate the Book of Mormon. I know that this is the word of God and as I have pondered the teachings within, it has brought peace and enlightenment to my soul and I truly have been able to draw closer to the Lord, I absolutely love reading the scriptures! I know that Thomas S. Monson is the true and living Prophet upon the earth today and that he receives divine revelation from God to lead and guide us in the things that the Lord would have us do. I am a Mormon because I have received a spiritual witness from the Holy Ghost that the gospel is true, and there is absolutely no way that I can deny this.

How I live my faith

I have been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints my entire life, and as I have grown up in the Gospel I have continued to learn and grow in it's teaching and principles as I follow the Lords Commandments that He has given to guide, direct and teach us and apply them to my life I have truly been able to see the blessings that come from a life in sync with God's will. I know and have witnessed the truth that the Gospel does bring purpose and meaning to our lives and happiness we can find nowhere else and I know that I have been truly blessed to have always had the Gospel and it's guiding principles to influence my life. As such I have always considered serving a mission, as I see those around me who have not had this influence and I desperately want them to find the truth and come unto Christ so that they too may know of the joy that fills my souls. While I considered this possibility, it was also an undecided matter for me, should I go, or not? But just this last General Conference, I was, for the first time able to attend in person and though I was not at the session where it was announced, I was watching when President Monson announced the age change for missionaries and as I tried to take that amazing and life changing information in, I knew then that serving a mission was exactly what the Lord wanted me to do. I then was called to serve, as a ward missionary, which only further confirmed that I was on the right path and I have been so thankful for this calling as it has helped prepare me in so many ways as I venture forth and accept a new calling to serve for 18 months in the Tucson, AZ mission!
