Hi I'm Jonathan Kirkham

I am a student of BYU Idaho, an Eagle Scout and an all-around common guy, and yeah, I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a student of BYU Idaho, and am studying website design. I am obsessed with music and have taken voice lessons. I love blasting Phantom of the Opera and sing it just about everywhere I go. ^_^

Why I am a Mormon

Why am I Mormon? That is a very good question. Although it is true that I was raised in the Church, I did question my beliefs for a while. I didn't stop going to Church, but I did wonder whether or not it was actually true. The Mormon faith seems so far-fetched to most... Is it really true? For a while there, that is my high school days, I stopped going to seminary because of a medical condition known as sleep apnea. I won't go over everything I went through in those days, but it did play a major part on why I questioned my beliefs. Those were hard days, but in the end I found that I believed everything was true about 'the Mormons.' I know, you're probably asking how did you go from questioning everything, to I now believe everything. The answer is seminary. About a week or two before classes were to start, I received a call from my would-be seminary teacher. She explained that she was to be my next seminary teacher and was calling everyone in the class. I thought to myself, 'Now that is dedication, perhaps I will try to go back.' This was the best decision of my life, because it was during this class that I read the Book of Mormon for the first time cover to cover. I found that by reading this book everyday that my day was a lot brighter and I was happy. However that wasn't good enough for me, I had a strong desire to find out if the book was true. Mostly because the entire church would depend upon whether or not the Book of Mormon is true. So I took the advise of James, to ask of God myself. I took the book in hand and asked God if it was true and if He was the author of it. I didn't get an answer right away, but He did answer, telling me in my heart that the book was true. I have been a believer ever since.

How I live my faith

My activity in church is quite simple, I get the opportunity to oversee the missionary efforts in my single's ward. The best part is that I get to see those who aren't members of my church ask questions and develop their faith in Christ. This helps me understand my faith better.

Why is family so important to Mormons?

Jonathan Kirkham
Coming from a large family, I feel very strongly about families. So why families? The simple answer is that families are central to God's plan. God has a plan, one that helps us return to live with him again, and this is achieved through families. It is in the family that we learn how to be more like Christ, for we learn more about love and service. Without these principles, one cannot be like Christ. It is through the family that we can obtain life eternal, which is the 'greatest of all the gifts of God.' Show more Show less
