Hi I'm Dan

I work with technology. I love to laugh. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am one of those people who always enjoys some high quality laughter. As such often times my laugh proceeds me. To many I am known as jolly and I would have to agree with Abraham Lincoln when he said that "Most folks are about as happy as they make up their minds to be." I am studying Information Technology and love how technology can be integrated to simplify our lives, even if at times it can do the opposite.

Why I am a Mormon

Even though I was born into a family where everyone was a member of the church, it is not the basis of why I try to be a faithful member of Christ's church today. Growing up in upstate New York there were not very many other members of the church. I interacted with many people of many faiths and some that did not believe in God. Many of these people were unhappy and lacked purpose in their lives. It was when I began to see this disparity in the lives of others that I truly began to question if what I had been taught from the beginning of my life was in fact true. I wanted to be sure that whatever path I chose was the correct one, that would give me that purpose and happiness that I saw so many others lacking. I never had a miraculous visitation or vision. I never had a pillar of light descend on me or have the earth beneath me tremble. These things feel silly and not of much importance to me as I reflect back on those important years as a teenager just trying to do those things which the Lord had asked him to do. My testimony was gained through experimentation on the words of Christ and obedience to the commandments which He has revealed through His servants the prophets. There was an unquenchable hope forged, a reality of potential that can be achieved. Knowledge gained of a loving Heavenly Father that is actively engaged in my eternal happiness and salvation. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is true. I know this because I have lived it and at times not lived it. There is a real difference in my joys, my relationships, my character when I strive to follow it. Christ lives and is our Savior. Through His infinite Atonement we can be made whole. We are able to become more like Him and obtain a happiness that is eternal and not fleeting like so many things are in this life. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the true church of God, which teaches us what the Gospel of Christ is and how we can return to our Father in heaven again.

How I live my faith

Simply stated I try to be obedient to what the Lord has revealed to us, His children. It is a difficult struggle at times. Immorality and vulgarity are rampant in the world. Love is sparse and hatred is all too common. It is easy to fall into those things which do not bring happiness, but I do what I can to follow the commands of God, and try to bring others unto Him. I always enjoy serving in whatever way I can. Whether giving someone a ride or just simply listening to when people have things to say. Many times I think that simple acts of service is what brings real happiness. Christ's life is the perfect example of what it means to serve and uplift others and I try to follow in His footsteps. It is through his ultimate act of service that I am able to repent and become a better man and friend, so anything I can do to lighten the burden of others I will happily do. Within the church itself I always try to be earnestly engaged in my callings. Currently I am an instructor for one of the blocks of meetings during our worship services. It is a blessing to be able to study the words of the prophets and then teach and bear testimony of those principles. There are few things that bring greater joy than bearing my testimony of the resurrected Savior and how through Him we can be truly happy.
