Hi I'm Ashley Tenney

I grew up and live in Arizona, I'm a college student studying music education, and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I am a college student studying music education at MCC. I love music and the connections it builds, and I hope to become a high school band director after school. I love to learn and work, and in my spare time I like to go out with my friends and play sports sometimes. I am the oldest of 4 children in my family, and I love them very much. I hope to be able to have a family of my own when the time is right.

Why I am a Mormon

Although I grew up in the church, I still had to make a decision whether or not I really wanted to live the gospel. After years of study and prayer, I can say that I know this church is true. Not because somebody told me it was, not because my friends are doing it, but because I have genuinely searched for truth, and the Holy Ghost has testified to me that it really is true. I have seen the effects of the gospel in my life, and it is outstanding what it has done for me. This truly the same church Jesus Christ established when he was on the earth, and it has been restored to the earth once more through a prophet, Joseph Smith. I know that God loves all of his children, so he gave us the Book of Mormon, another testament of Jesus Christ. This sacred book is an account of Heavenly Father's children in early America and when Christ came to visit them. I know it was written for our day, and as I read it every day it gives me more and more peace and guidance in my life. I know that Heavenly Father has a plan for us, and that one day we can live with him again some day and become even as he is. One of my favorite parts of the gospel is that we can be married and sealed to our spouse, and be with our families again after this life for time and all eternity. Most of all, I know that Jesus Christ is my savior. He suffered my pains, afflictions, and temptations. He knows me perfectly. He bled and suffered for my sins, so that I don't have to suffer for them myself, and he ultimately died for me so that I can be resurrected even as he was. I am a Mormon and live the gospel because it has given me so much peace and so much joy. It works.

How I live my faith

One way I live my faith is through visiting teaching. That's where women in the church get to visit the homes of other women in their ward, and share a message. The main reason I love visiting teaching is because it helps to strengthen the relationships we have in the church, and it's so nice to have a friend you can visit with and count on! I love the women that I visit, and who visit me! When I visit with the women I go to church with, not only do I feel love for them, but I feel the love that Heavenly Father has for them too! This is a great way to build friendships and find opportunities to serve God's children.
