Hi I'm Ani Call

I'm a student. I'm an environmentalist. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Provo, Utah - the first of four kids in my family. I came while my dad was finishing up law school. His work took our family to Arizona for a while, but Utah has always been my favorite place. I love the four seasons here, especially winter! Snowboarding is my first and favorite hobby. I also love to run and rock climb when the weather is warm. Oh, and I love to ride my fixed gear bike whenever I can! I spent my youth at the local ski resorts or on summer backpacking adventures with my dad. My love for the outdoors grew into a passion for protecting and preserving our wild places. I guess you could call me a treehugger - I'd consider it a compliment! That passion has influenced my course of study in college, where I'm studying plant and wildlife sciences. Learning about the diversity of life and the wonder of creation has only deepened my love for our planet. It's also strengthened my faith in God and given me a greater appreciation for his works. I'm currently living in the awesome city of Chico, California. There's so many beautiful trees here, I wish I could hug them all! My church service has brought me here for a short time, and I know I'll miss it when I leave. When the time comes, I'm excited to be heading back to my home state to enjoy the wildlife with my friends and family!

Why I am a Mormon

My faith means so much to me. It's a vital part of who I am. I was blessed to grow up in a family where the gospel of Jesus Christ was the center of our home. My parents and grandparents set the example for me and showed me what blessings could come from following the Savior. In our home, my parents helped to cultivate my faith by teaching me to study the scriptures, pray, and seek inspiration and direction from the Holy Ghost. In many ways, life is tough for teenagers today. I remember being exposed to a lot of temptation in high school and during my freshman year of college. There's so many opportunities to be dishonest, unchaste, prideful, and drunk or high. The gospel of Jesus Christ gave me purpose and direction to help me rise above the temptation. I found a lot of strength in the friendships I made at church. Good friends and role models helped me become the person I am today. I think my favorite part of being a Mormon is just the safety and security that comes from following Christ. Keeping the commandments has kept me from a lot of the problems that people around me are dealing with. Also, my faith gives me hope - hope for my future, for others, and for the world.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith by trying to set a good example for my younger sisters and sharing what I know with everyone I meet. I always do my best to reach out to people who haven't found the hope or faith that I have been blessed with. Also, I try to keep the commandments and live the standards of the church. It always brings great blessings and keeps me out of trouble!
