Hi I'm Karen Wernli

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Karen and I have three wonderful daughters. I love living in a warm and sunny climate, reading, playing tennis, swimming, listening to opera, and learning new things. I enjoy eating healthy foods, spending time with family, and being part of a church family, where we can love, serve, and enjoy one another's friendship. I enjoy traveling, and I hope to have the opportunity to travel to all parts of the world.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the church, and both of my parents joined the church as children when their families were taught the gospel by the missionaries. From the time I was a teenager I started more intently reading the scriptures and praying so that I could have a testimony of my own. I have felt distinct impressions from the Holy Ghost who testifies of Jesus Christ, and of all truth. I have had answers to prayers, and I have tested the promises of Heavenly Father. He asks us to obey His words, but with our obedience comes blessings, and I have received many of them in my life. The only way we limit our joy and happiness in life is by choosing not to follow true principles. Every day I am grateful to have this knowledge of the gospel of Jesus Christ. I am also grateful to know that Heavenly Father knows me and knows my needs. He provides so many things to help us, and these things can be found in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Other churches and philosophies contain many good things and some degree of truth, but not the fullness of the gospel. Why I was so blessed to have this in my life I do not know, but I feel a deep sense of gratitude, and a desire that all others have this same blessing.

How I live my faith

I love all the different jobs (callings) I've had so far in the church, and I'm sure I will have many more. I've worked with nursery age children, older children, young women, adult women, and adults. Each opportunity to serve has blessed me and helped me grow as I have served others. Right now I work with the Young Women organization, helping to plan girls camp, youth conferences, and other special events, and I support/train leaders and teachers in the Young Women organization. I am also a visiting teacher, which means I have a small list of women that I visit and bring a gospel message to each month in their homes. I have a partner and we go together, visiting and sharing our love, friendship, and support to these sisters and offering our help in times of need. All of us have become good friends and we look forward to this time together each month. Some of my strongest friendships have come through my calling as a visiting teacher, or with those women who visit me! My most important calling is as a mother, and as I have raised my daughters I have tried to impart to them my feelings about the gospel of Jesus Christ. I've tried to teach true principles so that they can have the tools they need to become independent and lead successful lives. For me, a successful life is one with joy. We all face challenges and difficulties, but this is part of life and helps us learn and grow. If we have the correct knowledge and perspective, we can have joy no matter what our circumstances are, and we can act to improve our lives every day. This knowledge and perspective is also what motivates us to strive to become more like Jesus Christ and to fulfill the unique mission that was given to each of us.
