Hi I'm Penny.

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mom of four boys and one special little girl who has Down Syndrome. Their ages are 21, 19, 14, 4, and 18 months. My Two oldest boys are currently on missions: Orlando Florida and Little Rock, Arkansas. I stay home and run a small business painting murals and decorative paintings. My husband and I moved to Bountiful from Santa Barbara, California in 2005 and was converted to the LDS church a year later with our kids. It was the best move; figuratively and literally, that we ever made. We love the church, our lives as members, and our ward family as though they are blood relatives.

Why I am a Mormon

Until I have time to sit down and write my conversion story, I would like to share that I know that this church is true.... It used to bother me that people would say this every time they got up to speak in church; as though to convince themselves over and over. Are they in doubt themselves? And why did it matter anyway? As long as every one is worshiping the same God, then by golly, EVERY church is 'true.' Right? Well, evidently not. I get it now that the LDS church is the one and only TRUE church; and more importantly, I understand why it matters. It matters because the LDS church is the church that continues the teachings of Jesus Christ, in the order of authority that he organized when he walked the earth with his disciples. Many preachers and pastors will tell you that we're all on our own until He returns, doing the best we can with the teachings found in the New Testament. But that's not true. The apostasy is over. We're no longer on our own... the priesthood has been restored to it's original design, complete with a living prophet, starting with Joseph Smith in 1820. Until other church leaders realize that that Christ's organization of the priesthood was not just a footnote, a happenstance barely worth mentioning, but an intentional instruction from our Heavenly Father as to how he wanted his children to follow Him, they will be continue to feel alone. The 'true church' is always being challenged as to it's claim to being the only true church, making it important to claim it out loud, every time we stand to testify, "I KNOW this to be the TRUE church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints." How blessed we are to have been given this revelation through Joseph Smith. How blessed we are to not be waiting for Christ's return for further instruction, but to be receiving it daily through our priesthood leaders, church presidency and our Prophet, Thomas S. Monson.

How I live my faith

I live my faith through every day actions. I am a mother who loves her children and want only the best for them. They are growing up in a church were they are accepted and know that Christ loves them no matter what. My neighbors are my friends and family through Christ. My current calling in the church is as the Newsletter organizer. I love this calling because I get to collect updates about all of the missionaries in our ward (neighborhood), messages about new families, births, weddings, and other happenings that we all love to hear about. It's a great calling and I love to do it! I also Visit Teach a few ladies in our church, share a message with them about the gospel, and tend to whatever they need. If they're not feeling well, they know that they can call me for a meal, or an errand. I, myself, have two wonderful Visiting Teachers who visit me monthly. They are the ones I call when I'm feeling down or need a sitter on short notice. It's wonderful knowing that I'm not alone in the world, and that I can be of serves of my fellow sisters.
