Hi I'm Jessica

I'm a wife, a mother, a teacher, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to teach. I have always loved it since I can remember and always wanted to be a teacher of some sort or another. I have taught flute to beginner students. I have taught 3 year-olds as well as women through my church callings. I helped teach in education from Kindergarten classes to college. I taught my own fifth grade class for two wonderful years. Now, I have the greatest teaching responsibility I have been entrusted with; my two wonderful daughters. My name is Jessica and I am a teacher, a mother and a Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon by birth as well as by choice. I was raised in a typical large Mormon family in Utah County, Utah. Some might say that was really no choice in the matter. Everyone I knew was LDS. There was very minimal interaction with anyone outside of the church. So how could I chose to be a Mormon? However, since being married, my husband and I have had the wonderful opportunity to travel all over the US and live in six different States within 5 years of marriage. I have been given the chance to meet so many different people with all beliefs. I have had my beliefs challenged and I have shared my testimony in response. I believe all of the principals of the Gospel with all my heart. Every teaching resonates within me. I believe Joseph Smith was visited by God the Father and by His Son, Jesus Christ and was led and directed to restore Christ's church on the Earth. I believe in modern day prophets and know that Thomas S. Monson has been called of God and is leading this church through His direction. But most of all, I love the peace and comfort that comes from living the Gospel principles. I live a good life and I feel that is mostly due to how I was raised and that I continue to abide by the principles I was taught as a child. I am kind and compassionate because of what I am taught in the Church. I choose to be a Mormon and I have peace and joy in my life because I am.

How I live my faith

I am currently called as the Compassion Service Leader for the women's organization through our church in my local area. Under the direction of local church leaders, I help to coordinate service for those who need help with various circumstances in their lives whether it be welcoming a new baby to their family, moving, loss of job, surgeries, and even funeral arrangements. I have been so blessed during this calling. I recently moved here and was feeling and overwhelming amount of loneliness. It was only through putting myself into service positions that I felt fulfillment in my life. So when the opportunity to be the Compassionate Service leader was extended to me, I received it with open arms. I am blessed to see the amount of service the members of our church provide to those around us. It reminds me greatly of the one who was the prime example of service; Jesus Christ. He spent his life in the service of others, and blessed so many lives. By giving service to others I know that I am serving my God for He said, "inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me." (Matt. 25: 40) I feel closer to those I serve and have a greater outpouring of love towards them. I know this is how my Heavenly Father wants me to live my life.
