Hi I'm Kandis

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a recently married, college graduate who enjoys spending time with family and working hard so I can play hard later! My husband and I love going on road trips, eating out, playing sports, and just enjoying each others company . Some of my favorite activities include wakeboarding, singing, being outside, exercising, reading, playing games and setting goals for myself to improve. I love being with people who lift me up and have positive outlooks on the world. My favorite quote is: Charity is the never ending search for someone else's happiness. I definitely wouldn't say I am the best at making this quote a reality... but making an effort to do this has become a passion of mine over time.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because the gospel and everything that comes with it just makes me happy! I am so so grateful that I was able to grow up in the church. I had many great examples in my family that gave me the courage and desire to develop my testimony of Jesus Christ. Once I moved out of the house and went to college it was my turn to decide what kind of person I wanted to become. I chose to continue down the path my parents had begun to lay for me, and faithfully attend my church meetings. While I love church and all, the greatest strength I received while being on my own was the power that came to me by reading my scriptures and praying. I am going to be very honest and say that prayer didn't come all that naturally to me for some reason (even after growing up praying all of my life) but I learned that practice makes perfect and eventually my ability to communicate with my Heavenly Father increased. I also tried to be good at keeping a journal. It helped me keep track of days I felt great as well as the hard ones. In both situations I came to recognize that the Lord was aware of me in my time of need and in my time of joy. I know without a doubt that it is because my activity in the Church that I have learned of the Atonement of Jesus Christ and of His grace that allows me to be healed and to overcome weakness. I know from personal experience that this power is real and that it has changed my life. I know that because of the young prophet Joseph Smith, the Book of Mormon- Another Testament of Jesus Christ was translated by the power of God and that it's principles will help me and everyone who desires it get closer to God. Which is why I love to share it with as many people as will listen to me.

How I live my faith

Living my faith is something I really enjoy doing. I love interacting with people so attending church, being involved in service projects (no matter how big or small they are), being a teacher, and participating in Church functions help me make new friends and get to know people. I enjoy the unity and feeling of family that comes when I actively try to get to know others in the church. I lived in New York City for some time as a missionary and saw how lonely people got by being in a big city all by themselves. What I noticed immediately was that the people who were members of the church had an immediate support group when they came to church. They had an immediate connection with many people. I know that the setup of this church is not done on accident, but is done by divine revelation and leadership. It's wonderful to know that wherever I move there will be a congregation of people waiting for me to become a part of!
