Hi I'm Matt

I was born and raised in Utah. I enjoy singing, eating pizza and playing sports. I am an ESPN fanatic. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up playing baseball and basketball. When I started High School my interests changed from baseball to music. I especially enjoy singing, and playing the piano. I served my mission in San Diego, California, and loved having the opportunity of sharing the Gospel there. I currently attend BYU and I'm majoring in Statistics. I have 2 brothers, and 3 sisters in my family, and I enjoy spending time with them whenever we get the chance. I was born with Congenital Heart Disease, and with a backwards heart. Because of my heart conditions I want to go to medical school and study cardiology. I enjoy relaxing on the beach in Hawaii, going to Disneyland, and would love to travel to more exotic places in the world.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. While growing up, my family was always really close and my parents really were good examples to us. Because of their examples, I chose to continue to go to church and read the Book of Mormon. Even though I grew up in the church, I still needed to develop and receive my own testimony. I remember the first time I finished the Book of Mormon, and I decided to pray about it. As I was praying I just had a very peaceful, warm feeling come over me, and I knew for myself through the Holy Ghost that the book was true. It was one of my first experiences feeling the Spirit that I can remember, and it has made a huge impact on my life. No longer was I relying on the testimony of my parents, but I could say for myself that I knew the Book of Mormon is true. I have since read the Book of Mormon through many times, and each time I do I come to the same conclusion and have the same feelings as I did that first time. Each time I read the Book of Mormon I find new insights and answers to my prayers, and I know that it is the word of God. The Book of Mormon is the foundation of my testimony, and I love reading it. I know that the Book of Mormon, and the church has helped to change my life, and has made me who I am today. I have experienced so much joy and happiness in my personal life, and in my family because of the Gospel. It continues to be the foundation, and the anchor of faith and hope in my life that keeps me living and continuing in my life.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to be a good example of Jesus Christ, and by seeking ways to help others come closer to the Savior and to serve them. I strive to come closer to the Savior through studying my scriptures, praying daily, attending church and serving others. I really enjoy helping/serving others in any way that I can and find great joy when I help them. I also am able to live my faith by spending time with my family and trying to strengthen those family ties that we have. I try to maintain a clean and healthy lifestyle that will allow me to have the spirit constantly in my life.
