Hi I'm Cody

I was raised in Utah. I'm an actor, a drummer in a metal band, and a graphic artist. Right now, I'm a missionary! I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I love music, theater and studio art. I am the youngest of 4 children. One of my sisters passed away from heart complications before I had the privilege to meet her, but I'm excited to meet her later on! My parents are divorced but I am very close with both my mom and dad and my siblings. They are the BEST! Love them. I have always immersed myself in many different arts. Drums, drums, drums! I have a passion for drumming. Holy dang, it is one of the biggest blessings I have been given. It has relieved so much pain throughout my life! I began playing the drums when I was 11 and when I turned 15 I started a band with my brother (lead guitarist) and some friends, and a few years later my sister jumped on board as our singer! The music we write is very inspirational and melodic. We are a progressive metal band and we love sharing our emotions and passions with anyone who will listen. In high school I was on the drumline with many amazing friends. I played the tenors (quints) and I was on the bass line. I have always been interested in drawing - and even as a little kid I was always drawing dinosaurs and dragons (surprise!). I eventually used my interest in art in the band I was a part of and created album art and websites for it. I began my interest in theater in Jr. High School and I learned many of the most significant lessons of my life in my High School Advanced Theater class. My family and friends are so important to me! There are just so many people to love out there. MAN!

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in this church in an awesome family. My mom taught me so much of the gospel and of Jesus Christ, whom I love. I didn't think much of it as I was growing up (although I always had that voice in the back of my head leading me and guiding me) until I began seminary. I found a love for the gospel and It's teachings as I continued to go to seminary to seek the word of God. My friend's examples were huge to me. They showed me much of what it means to be an imperfect, but true disciple of Christ. And I am so grateful for that because I am super imperfect! But I've always known the gospel was true, man! I don't have a lot of super big spiritual experiences, but I do have a lot of "Duh, that's true" experiences. I gained my testimony of the Book of Mormon as I began reading it consistently, day by day. I saw It's influence in my life with family, friends and school. I gained a strong testimony of the Prophet Joseph Smith as I was on Trek overlooking the wide expanse of plains in Wyoming and praying sincerely to know if he was a prophet and if the Book of Mormon was true. God answered my prayer with a soft knowing as He always has. And my desire to serve a mission grew and grew -- I'm telling you it was exponential! And I am blessed to be serving the Lord at this time. The experiences I have gained so far on my mission around these wonderful people I wouldn't trade for anything in this world. I serve for my future family, both immediate, past, and unborn. I wish to serve them and to help them experience the blessings of the gospel with all of my heart. I serve to help those who are seeking for relief and comfort and answers in the world. And I serve because I love the Lord. This gospel gives me unshakable peace and comfort in whatever trial befall me. Nothing can take my faith or my testimony of Heavenly Father's Plan of Salvation for us. As long as we try to follow Christ, everything will work out in the end.

How I live my faith

The best thing I can do to live my faith is to love everyone! There is so much to love in each person on this earth, and I like to believe that there is more to love in people than to hate. I try to show my love by putting others first and serving them. Now, I'm certainly not perfect at that, but I do try! And I want to try harder! I try to make myself available for service projects or being there for a friend to talk to. Any way I can put God first is a show of faith and trust in Him. I served my brothers and sisters as a youth of the church and I now serve as a Missionary of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Patience and understanding are 2 ways I hope to live my life. Everyone is a child of God and deserves our love, respect, and service. I choose to serve them as a missionary for 2 years, in helping them with service and guidance, and in helping them learn of the truths of God and the Doctrines of His Son, Jesus Christ. It is always important for me to serve others, but the best thing I could ever offer them to bless their lives is this gospel. There is no greater blessing. It is hard to share something so dear to us, but yet so easy at the same time. But I know with all the conviction in my heart that Jesus is the Living Christ, the Redeemer of the world. And this is His restored church and Gospel. There is no better way to happiness in this life and in the world to come. It's true!

To what do you attribute the growth of the Church?

Truth. It all comes down to truth. The Plan of Salvation is truth. God speaking to prophets is a truth, both in old times and in current. Truth is a knowledge of things "as they really are, were, and are to come." Where do we find truth? From the source of all truth! God! He is truth! We can see the evidences of the truths of God manifests in our lives. From living the commandments such as the Word of Wisdom we can see that, truth is, some substances are super bad for us! And by following this truth we can be healthier and happier. The Law of Chastity isn't a moral code that changes with society, it is a truth that has been constant and consistent since the beginning, the Bible teaches us that. We see the blessings of being chaste and virtuous in our lives in a higher sense of confidence and peace. Our families and emotions are protected. Unborn children who deserve a stable family are protected from being born into an unstable one. The spirit testifies of truth and the people feel the spirit and see the blessings. The truth moves this church forward. God is truth. The fact that this church withstands the many persecutions and accusations it has faced over the years is a testimony in and of itself that the truth will not be shaken. God is in charge of this work, how else would 19 year old goofy dudes be able to help people find Jesus Christ in their lives? Only becuase of the power of God! I love God. He is good. And he will teach us truth. I have used the word truth a lot :) Show more Show less

Why is authority to perform a baptism important?

Why did Jesus walk miles (40-60) to be baptized by John the Baptist? Why didn't he just walk outside and pick one of the first people he saw and say "Hey YOU! Could you baptize me??" My dogs would be barkin after that walk! But It's because John had the authority to do so, and that was, and is, very important. Just as Elder Ballard's example in his book "Our Search For Happiness" says, I can't pull you over for speeding and write you up a ticket and expect you to pay it. You'd probably tell me to get lost! I'd tell me to get lost! But if I was a cop, it would be different. Worthiness and capability come with having authority like the priesthood. God qualifies those whom he calls. Without qualification we cannot do the things God requires us to do. He has got to give us the tools to perform the tasks that he calls us to do. Why does the priesthood have to be that tool? I don't know, that is how God directs and establishes His church on firm ground. But it is clear throughout religious history that qualified and called individuals have administered the ordinances and clarified the doctrines of Christ's gospel. It is such a blessing to have that clarification today. The prophet, Thomas S. Monson, both MY prophet and YOUR prophet, has the authority, the priesthood of God and the office of a prophet, seer, and revelator to teach us the exact doctrine that Christ authorizes him to. It is the truth and it is such a blessing to have the priesthood restored to the earth today! Show more Show less
