Hi I'm Brendan Hernandez

I have Tourettes Syndrome, but I don't let it get in the way of me achieving my goals. I'm a breakdancer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 20 years old. I am currently serving for 2 years as a missionary for my church. I have always loved all types of sports, including Mixed Martial Arts, break dancing, and Parkour. It doesn't matter what sport I am doing, I always enjoy being able to spend time with family and friends in activities that make me push myself physically and mentally. Apart from sports, I love music; making music, listening to music, anything about music. I love all genres, and depending on how I am feeling, my favorite genre switches. I enjoy listening alot of artists, from Rascall Flatts, to Micheal Buble, from We the Kings, to B.O.B. Music and sports have helped my alot to overcome my struggles with Tourettes syndrome which I was diagnosed with a few years ago. I have found that as I am able to control my level of stress, that my ability to control Tourettes Syndrome increases. For that reason, I always make time for things I enjoy. But I know that sometimes I dont have as much time as I would like, so I have had to learn to look for the good in everything in life, and not to let the little things get to me. Before my service as a missionary, I attended Utah Valley University with a major in Psychology. After my service I will return to my studies, work, and all of the things I love to do.

Why I am a Mormon

I have always been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, but there have been times in my life that I didn't always live the way I knew I should. I let myself get caught up in things that I thought would be fun, but didn't see the harm it was causing myself and those around me. However, thanks to my family and a few good friends, I was able to see that I needed to make some changes in my life for the better, so I could become the man that God knows that I have potential to be. And with their patience and support, I have made, and continue to make these important changes. I have seen for myself the difference it makes between living your life in accordance with the Doctrine of Jesus Christ, and not. I know and testify of the peace and true happiness that comes from putting God's will before mine, even when I don't perfectly understand it. I am a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints not just because I was raised that way, but because I have seen the difference it has made in my life personally. I have studied and prayed about the things that are taught in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and have recieved the answer, that this is the church that Jesus Christ established in His mortal ministry, once again restored to the earth through a modern-day prophet, just like the prophets in biblical times. And as I live the principles of this gospel, I find more happiness, more peace, more patience, and more guidance in my life than from any other source in the world.

How I live my faith

As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, I live my faith by doing the best I can to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ, and by sharing those teachings with others, which is why I have chosen to dedicate these 2 years of my life completely to spread the gospel, or teachings of our Savior Jesus Christ. I love to help people in any way I can, for that reason when I return from missionary service, I will continue to pursue a career in psychology. I want to eventually become a Psychiatrist, because I know that there are a lot of people that will be able to benefit the things I have learned from my experience dealing with Tourettes Syndrome. And for me, there is no better feeling than knowing you were able to help change someones life for the better. I also know how important it is to be familiar with the word of God, not just for me to apply in my own life, but also so I can help and strengthen other people that God puts in my path. For this reason, I always make at least a little time every day to study the holy scriptures, and to attend weekly church services. I personally have a testimony of how following Jesus Christ and his teachings can bless and protect us in this life, and lead to eternal happiness in the life to come. I know that just as any parent loves and teaches their children correct principles, that our Father in Heaven also loves us, with a perfect and infinate love and that he guides us with commandments that he reveals to his prophets.
