Hi I'm Linda

I'm a dancer and musician, and I love being a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in China, moved to Guam when I was 6, and grew up in Washington state since age 8. A friend introduced me to the Church in high school and getting baptized on my 18th birthday was the best decision of my life. I attended Brigham Young University in Utah, worked and studied in Washington, D.C., and currently am living my dream in New York City. I'm passionate about life. I find great joy and inspiration in dancing (especially ballroom) and music (especially jazz). I love experiencing and learning about the diversity of the world around me. I am grateful to a God who has given us a world so full of wonder and beauty. He allows us to explore our individuality while striving for eternal life through the doctrines and covenants His Church. I love being a Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

My life has improved exponentially since I found and joined the Church. On my first day at Church in 11th grade, I received an overwhelming feeling that I was "home" amongst others with high standards who earnestly tried to live up to them. I find great happiness in developing my relationship with God and keeping His commandments. I'm a Mormon because I want a constant closeness with divinity. When the missionaries told me about the Gift of the Holy Ghost all members receive after baptism, it became my main desire to receive it. It is a constant source of light in my life. I'm a Mormon because in an age of confusion about the purpose of life, the meaning of marriage, how to be healthy, and how to obtain peace - I am able to find immediate relief and guidance through prayer, the scriptures, and modern prophets. I'm Mormon because I need the power of Jesus Christ's atonement in my life to cleanse me from sin and enable me to do more than I can on my own. I'm a Mormon because I love God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by following the commandments and teachings of the Church in a way that allows others to see how much peace and happiness they give me. I get excited about paying tithing and fast offerings because it is the most tangible way I can express my gratitude to God for all His blessings. I strive to fulfill my callings in Church, such as visiting teaching and teaching Gospel Principle classes, because I love giving back to an institution that has given me so much. I abstain from alcohol/coffee/tea/drugs/tobacco and try to live an active, healthy lifestyle so I can be fit to serve in God's kingdom. I dress modestly and maintain sexual purity because our bodies are sacred and I want to feel clean before the Lord. I attend as many church meetings, conferences, devotionals, and firesides as I can because I want to hear all the loving counsel and important messages God has for our day. I begin and end each day with prayer (and strive to keep open communication with God throughout the day) and read the Book of Mormon daily because I cherish my testimony and know it takes constant nourishing to stay vibrant. I strive to be kind to everyone and see them through the loving eyes of our Savior Jesus Christ.
