Hi I'm Bethanie

I'm a college student studying Recreational Therapy! I love my redheaded family and having fun adventures! I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm fulfilling my dreams by serving as a missionary currently in Peru!!! I was studying to go eventually into Recreational Therapy, thinking about possibly being a institute teacher, and above all want to be an amazing mom someday! I love my family!! I'm the oldest in my family with two little brothers and a little sister- all with gorgeous red hair. I'm super active and love doing things like Ultimate Frisbee, jumproping, running (which includes through the sprinklers), dancing, singing, playing the piano, reading, and I have a big crush on Disney movies.

Why I am a Mormon

I’ve been a member my whole life but my real conversion that led me to “be a Mormon” happened when I was in junior high. I was about thirteen years old. I didn’t have very many friends, and those that were my friends weren’t the best influences. I started to say the things they said, dressed the way they dressed, talked the way they talked- I felt horrible about myself. I didn’t really know who I was or what life was really all about. I had a changing moment in my life where I realized that what I was doing really wasn’t getting me the results I wanted. I had a moment in which I remembered what it was like to be as a child; free, forgiving, compassionate, innocent, honest, tender, joyful, sweet, unconditionally loving. I realized that we were each born this way as innocent pure spirits. Marianne Williamson put it this way, “You are a Child of God. You're playing small doesn't serve this world. There is nothing enlightening about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We were meant to shine as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us, it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others." I realized that who I am is worth loving- that there is a God in heaven that does know me personally, by name, and because of his Son Jesus Christ, I can return to live in Heaven someday. I knew that no matter what my circumstance, God loved me and that who I am is much more valuable than any negative influence. Life hasn't been necessarily without effort but its been made easier. I have read the Book of Mormon, prayed, and felt a comfort that told me that this church is true. As I've been in this church, I've witnessed the blessing of peace that comes through living it. I've noticed God's love in ways that I didn't see him before.

How I live my faith

I go about doing good things and living the things that I've been taught. I go to church every week with other fabulous individuals like myself! I love being in a singles ward because I'm with people my own age that are in a similar stage of life as me. It's great to feel close to and serve with such amazing people! I love doing activities as a young single adult- there is always something going on like FHE on Monday nights, playing church sports like basketball or volunteering at the hospital. I love being involved in Institute at the college campus. At the institute, we have gospel study classes, game nights, dances, devotionals, friends, and often free food :) I love going and getting to talk about my favorite thing- being the gospel :) I read my scriptures and pray every day and go do work in our temple at least once a week.I just find joy in being involved!!
