Hi I'm Armando

I was raised in California and Utah. I love to have fun in every situation and I love people. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently a student at Utah State University, and recently returned from a mission in the California. I'm majoring in Spanish teaching with minors in ESL teaching and psychology. I plan on becoming a high school principal and helping lower income students fulfill and build great career goals. I love going running and just spending time with all sorts of people. I love to play any sports, although I'm not great at them. Both of my parents are from Mexico and because of that I have a great love for my Mexican heritage and traditions. I'm also the fourth of 13 children, which adds to my unique upbringing. Growing up, my parents instilled in us a great desire to explore and learn, because of this I have great love for diverse music, sports, outdoor adventures, new hobbies, arts, drama and basically anything new.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because both of my parents were members and raised me in the church. I have remained in the church because of the strength I have received from following God's commandments. I am far from perfect but I as striven to come closer to God and repent, He has blessed me with the courage and ability to change. I have been filled with the love of God and His Spirit as I've conversed with Him through prayer. I have felt of the redeeming power of Jesus Christ. I have received answers to my petitions and inquiries and have learned that God is very aware of us and loves us. He reaches out to us at all times regardless of how far we've grown from Him. He is always willing to bring us back to Him and renew and increase the amount of blessings we receive from Him. As I followed the counsel that His prophets and apostles give, I have been blessed and I better understand His plan. We are capable of living with Him again and He lets us know exactly how to do that and enjoy the blessings of righteous living in this life. The church has the restored Priesthood authority to carry out ordinances such as baptism and those in the temple, it has leaders who are called of God and receive revelation, and the structure and organization to be blessed by the examples of many who are seeking to return to live with Him again as families.

How I live my faith

I try to always keep my Savior in mind, and see His hand blessing my life. I try to live as an example of someone receiving the blessings of living the Gospel so that they may desire those blessings and receive them for themselves. As the activities committee chairman for my ward (congregation), I organize events that are both spiritual and fun in nature, I go out and invite those who don't go to our church that they may also enjoy our good times and spiritual strengthening. I seek to share with others what it is that brings me happiness and how I have found strength in my trials.

What do Mormons believe about the Holy Ghost? Who is the Holy Ghost?

We believe the Holy Ghost to be the third member of the Godhead, separate from the Father and the Son. It is the spirit that testifies to us of truth. It is through the Holy Ghost that we may receive answers to our questions from God. As Galatians 5:22-23 teaches, we feel the Holy Ghost as we feel happiness, peace, kindness, etc,. I have also found that recognizing what the Holy Ghost feels like, is like learning a language. It's hard to comprehend and recognize whether or not what we are feeling is the Holy Ghost but the more we have spiritual experiences (containing those fruits as Galatians explains) the better we understand and comprehend. After we are baptized we receive the Gift of the Holy Ghost which allows us to have Him as a constant companion as long as we live worthy of his companionship. Show more Show less
