Hi I'm Delainey

I grew up in Sunny Southern California. I married a Sailor in the US Navy. I'm an aspiring teacher and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a young, fun, student and Navy Wife living in sunny Southern California. I am currently studying to become an elementary school teacher. I like to consider myself a jack of all trades. I love to play sports (basketball and softball are my specialty) craft, sew, cook, bake, blog, refinish furniture, organize, I could go on forever! Above all I love spending time with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

My conversion spans over most my teenage years. During this time I had friends who were members of the Mormon church, specifically my best friend. We would go to church activities together like dances, roadshows and young women's. She would share with me what her church was all about and invited me to church on Sundays but I would never go. One day, when I was about 16, missionaries were walking around my neighborhood. They asked me if I knew where so-and-so lived and I told them that I didn't know but something compelled me to ask them to share a message with me. They shared a message and we set up a time for them to return. I started taking lessons, liked what I was learning, but immediately shut myself off and told them they could not return. Over the next 2 years I would investigate on and off and finally went to church with a friend. I loved it! But I think at the same time I was scared and immediately refused any offer to attend church with her. The following year I met my now husband. He was a member of The Church but was completely inactive. After we got married all these miraculous events began happening. One day we were talking about religion and we got a knock on our door from missionaries. We started to receive lessons from the missionaries then realized how much I love the principles of the gospel. When we started going to church I felt so uplifted and like I belonged. I was scared but decided, for the first time ever, to actually pray about The Church, and if it was true and I received the answer I knew deep down that I would get. One day my husband was talking to his cousin about getting back into the church and his cousin told him that he needs to call the Bishop right away to set a meeting with him. The second he hung up the phone the Bishop called inviting us to dinner. Through these events I realized that Heavenly Father new I needed an extra push and sent me exactly what I needed and every day I am so thankful The Church is in my life.

How I live my faith

At church I have the opportunity to teach 3 and 4 year-olds. They are so much fun! All they know never ceases to amaze me. Teaching the gospel to these children also gives me the opportunity to learn more of the gospel since I just recently got baptized in 2012. I did not know how I could teach children because there is so much I still have left to learn but it has proved to be a blessing in disguise because I am learning too! In my everyday life I exercise my faith by staying true to the principles of The Church and the covenants I have made by being baptized. It is important to me to to build my testimony every day so that I can share it with others, when asked of course!
