Hi I'm Tyson

I grew up in Idaho. I have a twin brother. I love to play soccer. I am serving a mission in Mendoza, Argentina. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to play soccer. I played for four years in high school and for many years previous to that. I met many friends that are still my close friends today through sports and school. I have big families on both sides as well, and thoroughly enjoy spending time with all my siblings and my cousins whenever we have the chance. I also love to read many types of books, including fiction, nonfiction, biographical, history, you name it. I have been a Boy Scout for the majority of my life so far and I have earned the rank of Eagle Scout. I went to college for a year, and I learned a few valuable lessons, mostly about being a good student, studying and organizing time wisely. I then decided to serve a mission for the church. I will be serving in South America for two years.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints all my life, and I am eternally grateful for that. I am very thankful to my grandparents on my mother's side who have been faithful members their whole lives, and am also very thankful that missionaries found my father's parents and led them to join the church so that I could be raised a member. I chose to stay a member of this church because of the feeling I get every week I attend church and because the truthfulness of this gospel has been testified to me through my prayers and through service and activities I have participated in throughout the years, such as Youth Conference, Scout Camp, Mutual, and church on Sunday. I believe wholeheartedly that Christ is my personal Savior, and He loves each and every one of us, no matter how imperfect we may be at times. I know that the Atonement is real, because I have used it in my life on different occasions, all bringing that sweet relief and clean feeling, although not without some struggle and error. But I know that we can repent of our sins and be clean again through Christ's sanctifying power. I know that Joseph Smith was a true prophet who restored Christ's gospel to this world, and I know that the Book of Mormon is a true and righteous book, because I have prayed about it multiple times to know if it was true. I know also that President Monson is our living prophet who guides us daily today, and that by following his teachings and the teachings of the prophets, we will be closer to Christ and will be even closer to inheriting the Kingdom of God. I know that Christ knows each and every one of us, and loves us all unconditionally. I know this church is the true restored gospel of Christ on the Earth, and I am ever thankful for that faithful fourteen year old boy who prayed to know which church was true.

How I live my faith

I have served in multiple callings of the church throughout my youth, including President, 1st and 2nd counselors, and even secretaries of different age groups, although I was not all of those callings in each group. I was ordained an Elder before I left for college, and I was called as a Gospel Doctrine teacher in my ward at college. I enjoyed this calling very much, because of all the things I learned as well as all the things I was able to teach my friends and colleagues in the ward. I love reading all the insights in the lesson manuals and learning what prophets and apostles think of certain scripture, and relating it to my own feelings always brings a deeper understanding of whatever principle I am studying. I am now going to serve a two year mission in South America, and I am so excited to learn all about the culture and language and hopefully be able to share my testimony with as many people as possible that will listen.
