Hi I'm Holly

I am from Idaho, but I'm serving an LDS mission in the Carlsbad, California. Because I'm I Mormon!

About Me

I love the color yellow because it is bright and happy! I'm an optimist and I love playing games and having a fun time. I graduated from high school in 2014 and went to a year of school at USU. I'm studying Electrical Engineering and minoring in math. I have a wonderful family, and supportive friends. I decided to leave my life behind for 18 months so that I can bring others to Christ. I have been assigned to labor in the Carlsbad, California mission.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (aka LDS) because I know it's true, as true as me typing this! I know God exists because everything testifies of him, from the wind to small flower buds. I know I am a Daughter of my Heavenly king, and I love knowing I'm a princess! Even if I am mistaken, I will live my life without any regrets, clean and pure as I entered it. Families are so important to me and my church. I know I will live with my family forever! Even after death! Everything my church does has some tie to bringing families together, in joy, for eternity. I am a Mormon because of the blessings it brings to my life!

How I live my faith

I live my faith mainly by my example. I am modest in my dress and appearance, clean in my language and pure as to what I take into my body. I don't drink smoke or do any drugs. I don't swear and I try to always uplift others, my personal goal is to make others lives better because I am in them. The Church also gives me many leadership opportunities I wouldn't otherwise have. In my year at college, I was able to teach young adult sisters about the gospel, and for the next 18 months I will get to share the glorious news of the gospel plan with people in southern California.

Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

The Book of Mormon was written by a bunch of ancient prophets in the new promised land, which we believe is the Americas! The wrote about their people and the spiritual moments they had. The prophets were spiritual and received prophecy and revelations that specifically applies to our day, because many of them saw our day. After this civilization were killed off by there enemies, one lone survivor buried the plates in the ground. In latter-days, Joseph Smith Jr. received revelation on where the records were buried and on how to translate them perfectly from ancient Egyptian to English. Show more Show less

Why is family so important to Mormons?

Family on earth helps us get a sense of our heavenly parents love for us. Also, we believe that we can be united for eternity with our families, if we work hard and endure to the end! Show more Show less

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

As a sister serving a mission, I can tell you, the choice, whether to stay or go is a hard one. Every young adult I've known that is Mormon has struggled with it. But it is a choice. For Elders (young men) is is more of a duty, but most go because they want to not because they have to. Sisters are not under the same obligation, but we can do a lot of good out in the mission field. Missions are 100% completely voluntary. We do not get paid, in fact, we usually pay for the opportunity. We do not get to choose where we serve. The church, in guidance with the Holy Spirit, assigns each missionary to one of the over 400 missions around the world. Missionaries are usually either in their late teens to their early twenties or retired couples. They serve for 18 months to 2 years. Show more Show less

Why don’t women hold the priesthood in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? How do Mormon women lead in the Church?

Simply put women don't hold the priesthood because that is how God set up this church, but that doesn't settle a lot of feelings about it, not even mine. Why doesn't God give us the same blessings he gives men. For part of the same reason one person doesn't have the same blessings as another. We are all different and need to be tested differently. Womanhood and Priesthood work hand in hand, like the right hand and the left, both different, but they compliment one another and you wouldn't want to go with out either. In the church women can have many different callings or positions. We have the largest women's organization in the world. The church loves us women. Show more Show less
