Hi I'm Jake

I'm a Mormon

About Me

I grew up in Hurricane Utah. I am the youngest of 10 kids. (6 boys and 4 girls) I recently served a mission for the church in the California, Arcadia mission. I love to play football and basketball, go to the lake, and kick back with my friends.

Why I am a Mormon

Why am I a member of The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-day Saints? As I was growing up, my parents taught me what they believed. They taught me to do what was right. Taught me about prayer, to go to church, to read the scriptures. When I was little I figured that was all true. I didn't think much about it until I started getting older when I wanted to know if this was true for myself. I had heard many times that if I prayed about it I will know. So i did and I did not get a answer. I also had been told that answers sometimes take time, so I asked later. This time I got a simple thought in my mind to"wait" or to be patient. Then a member of the church moved in that I really looked up to who told me,"If you want to be the athlete you want to become, you will take care of spiritual things first." So I started to do everything I could that I had been taught to be right. Because I would do anything to be a better athlete, and to find out for sure if what the church was teaching me was true, and if it could really help me in my life. I began reading the Book of Mormon, praying often thanking God for what I had been given, and asking for help with things. I soon recognised I was happier and that I was accomplishing things faster then I was before. Later I read in the Book Of Mormon where a prophet named Alma compares faith to a seed. Telling me if the seed I had planted was a good seed it would grow and recognize the blessings that came from testing out that seed. I knew the seed was good, so i knew the book was true. And because the Book of mormon was true, Joseph Smith had to be a prophet because it was translated by him, which also had to mean the church he was asked to restore is true. That gave me enough assurance to keep living the gospel. That it does help, and since then I have been given many answers supporting that this is the only true church on the earth. And that if I do what is right I God will always take care of me. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen

How I live my faith

I live my faith by always trying to be a good example. I try to show athlete's how living the teachings of the church can help them be a better athlete, and make them happier in other phases of there lives. I try to show people that you can be yourself and still live what jesus taught.
