Hi I'm Katie

I am the oldest of my siblings. I take photos with my friends on a regular basis. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a college student majoring in food science. I love school. I love the people I have met and the things I have experienced. My family includes my parents, myself, and my four younger brothers. They are a great support to me, and I love all of them! I have visited and lived in many parts in and out of the United States with my family. My hobbies include reading, hiking, photography, and movie-watching. I returned recently from a mission in Peru. I loved sharing the gospel that has been such a blessing in my life. It was a real experience for me to learn about the love of our Heavenly Father. I am so grateful for all of the people that I met and the testimony that I was able to build.

Why I am a Mormon

Well, I guess my starting point is the fact that my parents and grandparents are Mormon. Unfortunately, these days that is not enough to keep a young person going. I have never been so sure of anything as I am of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Because of my testimony of the Savior and His Atonement, I feel strength, comfort, and determination. I know God is there for me and for everyone. He has a plan, and while sometimes it seems hard to follow, He is there to help us. I belong to a Church that believes in a God who does not want us to fail. That knowledge lifts me up everyday. The Gospel makes me happy. It makes my family happy. It can make you happy too!

How I live my faith

Every Sunday I go to church with either my family, my roommates, or my companion. I take time to volunteer when I can, whether with church activities or community events. Service is a huge part of the Church and of my life. I have also been involved musically and actively with the Church. Another way in which many members are faithful is by attending our sacred buildings, the temples. A few years ago, two of these beautiful buildings were built by me, and I am continually blessed by my involvement with them. Even when life is hard, I can still see blessings from living a Christlike life. I share a part of my testimony everyday as I am helping people to come unto Christ.

Is it true that Jesus appeared in North America after his crucifixion and resurrection according to the Book of Mormon?

The answer to this question is a resounding "yes!" Heavenly Father loves all of His children. He wanted others to know of the Atonement and the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, that they might also have the blessings. The account in the Book of Mormon (in the Book of 3rd Nephi) tells of His tender interactions with each individual as well as with the people collectively. He taught His gospel. He healed those afflicted with physical and emotional pains. He established peace in this land of the faithful which continued for two hundred years. I know Jesus Christ is the Savior of all the world, not just the people in Jerusalem or the members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints but everyone. His teachings, found in both the Bible and in the Book of Mormon, lead us on a higher path to eternal life. Show more Show less

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Yes, the members of this Church believe that they are led by a prophet like Abraham and Moses. I know that Thomas S. Monson is God's prophet today. He was chosen by God to lead people away from the bad in this world to the good that can be found in the gospel of Jesus Christ. We are able to hear from the prophet at least every six months at what is known as General Conference. He teaches us the will of God for all of us. The things the prophet teaches will bless our lives if we choose to apply them. I invite you to read what the prophet said in the most recent General Conference by looking at his talks on lds.org. I know that God loves us, and one of the ways He shows us that love is through living prophets. Show more Show less

In whom should we have faith?

We should have faith in Jesus Christ. He suffered the Atonement that we might return to our Heavenly Father. While not many of us have actually seen Christ, we believe that He lives. We believe that His gospel is the way. We show our faith by following His gospel (having faith in Him, repenting, being baptized, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end). What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

Missionaries are teachers who represent Jesus Christ. They teach about Him as our Savior and also as the Head of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. When I was a missionary, I loved teaching people about their value to God and the value of their families. The missionaries are there to be your guides and to be your friends. Show more Show less
