Hi I'm Brettchums

I kill it on the football field. I have 7 brothers and sisters. I'm serving a mission in San Diego, CA. And I'm a mormon.

About Me

I"m 20 years old. I've lived in Michigan my entire life until I was 18. In highshcool, I played football and basketball. My parents are the best parents in the world. I also have 7 brothers and sisters. You probably already know about my crew, hoop squad. I went to college at BYU for a year. It was difficult to be away from my family and friends but it prepared me for what I going to and am currently doing; serving a mission.

Why I am a Mormon

My entire life, I was raised by parents who instilled into me strong family values. My family has always been active in the church and although I didn't fully realize it at the time, it played a significant part in my adolescence. I wavered in my faith occasionally but I always remained rooted on the principles and lessons my parents taught me. During high school amongst my close friends I was known to having higher standards and wouldnt drink or smoke. But generally amongst the school body, I was known as the football player voted "biggest flirt" in mock elections, which I easily lived up to my title. Eventually, I made the decision to leave Michigan and go to school at BYU after much persuasion by my parents. Although it was against my personal desires, I obliged out of respect for my parents and because they were paying for my tuition! After a year, I made the decision to serve a mission, but only half heartedly. After the first week of the MTC, a brief training period for missionaries before they enter their permanent called location, I was submerged in the gospel of Jesus Christ and felt the Spirit in a way I have never before felt in my life. I was seeing scriptures and principles with such clarity that I felt the eyes of my understanding were opened. Never before had religion or God felt so real. From that point I entered San Diego as a full time missionary. Although times may be hard, I know that I can always rely upon my Father in Heaven and he will always afford me the companionship of the Holy Ghost, which the the keystone to a personal conversion. I know that this is Christ's church once again upon the earth and that it will provide the greatest and most eternal happiness that far extends our understanding. Christ is the head of this church and he lives. This things I know to be true.

How I live my faith

I try to find joy in the small moments. Whether times be bad or good, I always try to find the best of every situation. I've learned every experience is known by our Most High God and is given for our own experience and good and all I can do is find the best of every turn in life. I try not to fit the expectations but to exceed them.

What is faith?

Faith is the knowledge that God possesses the power to answer our prayers and the love capable to heal our hearts and carry us through our trials. Faith will lead to a greater understanding of the character of the Godhead. True faith will lead to a conversion of Gods restored church through the prophet Joseph Smith. God will answer everyones prayers. All can know this divine truth as they exercise faith in Jesus Christ and turn to him, willing to make covenants that will promise them life eternal; knowing the one true God and his son, Jesus Christ and having the assurance that as we are faithful to our covenants, that we can have the hope of living with our families for all time and eternity.
