Hi I'm Devin

I'm another Mormon from Utah

About Me

I grew up in the Church, and made a decision to serve a mission which changed my life and how I view God by being able to see the miracles and blessings that Church members for years promised me. I grew up in Utah and had I spent most of my time playing sports, listening to music, and spending time with close friends and family. I love music of all types, as well as sports, Football, baseball, hockey, soccer, UFC, anything that's fun to watch and to play.

Why I am a Mormon

After having spent time preparing and serving for a mission I began to realize the blessings that the gospel brings to all of us in our lives. There was a moment in my life where there were a bunch of bad influences, and things going on that were very difficult for me to cope with. One night I decided to say a prayer just to simply know that I would be able to be supported by God, and if the teachings of the Church were true. I hold this experience much like the one we find in Enos, and the spirit that I felt was undeniable that our Heavenly Father loved me, that Christ lived and paid the price of our sins. I felt lifted from the burdens, and I felt a peace in my life that to this day I still feel thanks to the teachings of Jesus Christ, and the gift of the Holy Ghost.

How I live my faith

I live my faith on a day to day basis. Every night when I pray I make a report of what I did that day, things I did good, and things I need to do better or to repent for. I ask for guidiance in making the proper decisions on how I do better, and how I can better live my life by following Christ like attributes. Doing this I have seen a great change in the way I look at the world around me, and in how I feel about my life. I really do feel like I am becoming a better person, and that I'm reaching the potential our Heavenly Father has for me. I also am currently serving a full time mission. Daily I see how the lessons I learned growing up are capable of blessing others as they live to the invitations I give them to follow Christ. I know that it is by baptism and confirmation that we can enter in by that same path that I'm in, the path of eternal life.

What do Mormons believe concerning the doctrine of grace?

Devin
Only by applying to ourselves the saving ordinances of the gospel, baptism, confirmation, and doing everything we can do to live our life according to the teachings of Jesus Christ can we get the saving grace of Jesus Christ. It's why works are needed in the gospel of Jesus Christ, not to brag or boast, but so we can truely act on our faith in Jesus Christ. It's like a phrase I've always loved, "action speaks louder than words." Simply saying you believe in Christ isn't really saying it because you can't feel it in your heart. Acting on your faith fills you with the Holy Spirit and teaches you about the divinity of the savior. When Christ says to believe on him to be saved, he wants you to say it by having your heart draw nearer to him. Show more Show less
