Hi I'm Ryan

I'm a student at BYU. I´ve been married for a little over a year. I love sports and being active. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love playing all types of sports. I've played basketball, baseball, football, soccer, hockey, and tennis. I started going to college in 2008. I studied for one year then went to Barcelona, Spain for 2 years serving as a missionary. During that time I was able to help many people come closer to Jesus Christ and I was able to become a much better person as well. I returned from Spain and my girlfriend and I continued to date until getting married just over a year ago. My wife just graduated, but I still have three years of school left. I am studying to get get a minor degree in physics and a masters degree in accounting. Because I still have several years of school left I mow lawns every summer trying to make enough money to support me and my wife. It's hard work, but it's worth the effort to be able to come home every day and spend the evening together as a family with the love of my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have received an answer that this church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, is God's true church on the earth today. I remember one time when I was 16 or 17 that my family was having a discussion. We were talking about the church and my parents asked my younger brother how he knew that this church was the true church. My younger brother said that he just knew it was. That's kind of how I was as well. It just seemed right, but that's about all I was going off of. Then my older brother said that in order to really know that this church is God's church we needed to pray and ask God if it was true. I had read the scriptures for most of my life, both The Bible and The Book of Mormon, but I had never really asked God for myself through prayer if this church is His true church. That night I decided to ask God and to find out for myself. I knelt down and asked God if everything I thought was true really was, if this really was His church. During that prayer I felt an overwhelming feeling come over me and the words "You already know it's true" came into my heart. Since then I have never doubted that this is God's church, because, through the Holy Ghost, God told me that it is His church. I have had many other experiences in my life while reading the scriptures, listening to hymns, or sharing experiences I've had that have reaffirmed this knowledge that I have that this is God's church. I know without a doubt that this church is God's true church that he restored on the earth today through a prophet. I know that He still guides us today through a prophet. He does all of this because He loves us, and he wants us to come closer to him. Christ did so much for us, and by following him we can be greatly blessed. Life isn't always easy just because I am a member of Christ's church and I follow him, but it is much easier than it would be if I wasn't following him. I have never regretted my decision to be a member of this church.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by always helping other people. That is what Christ did when He was here on the earth, and we should do the same thing. I spent two years in Barcelona, Spain helping as many people as I could to come to Christ by developing more faith in Him, repenting of their sins and becoming better people, being baptized into Christ's church to be clean from all of their past mistakes, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and helping them continue on this pathway to God. I saw many people come closer to Christ and be able to improve their lives immensely. Now that I am back in the United States going to school I still try and do the same thing. I always try and find the one person that I can help each day. Some days it´s as simple as holding the door open for someone and other days it´s something bigger. I think one of the best ways I live my faith is by constantly having faith and being optimistic about the future. I have had a lot of times in my life where I worried that things weren´t going to work out. However, without fail everything always seems to work out in the end. Sometimes it´s not quite how I wanted it to work out, but I keep going forward. I know that no matter what happens in my life God will always be there for me. He helps me through everything and His plan is always better than my plan. I try and always remember that when I´m passing through hard times and it helps me stay strong and press on.
