Hi I'm Andrew Jex

I grew up in Utah, I race motocross and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Well I am pretty much just an average guy! I love to play sports, hunt, and just be outside. I love working on cars, trucks, motorcycles, you name it! Dirt biking is my passion! I love racing and just going for rides with all my friends. I Have lived in Utah all my life, I'm pretty sure its the coolest place ever. Right now I am serving a mission in the Alaska Anchorage mission, I started my mission in May 2012 and I am loving it!

Why I am a Mormon

Well the short answer is that my parents are both Mormon, but that doesn't really tell the whole story. Just like most teenagers I came to a point in my life when i started to question everything my parents told me. I decided that I knew what was best for me and I was smart enough that I could live my own life. I didn't stop physically going to church, but mentally I had checked out. I found myself attending just for the social aspect of church rather than the spiritual side. I like to think I was happy but its obvious something was missing. My wake up call came in February of 2012. I was preparing to submit my mission papers. Not for any personal reason but just because I felt like its what society expected of me. I was on my way back from dirt bike trip when I got a phone call that one of my close friends had passed away. I was crushed. I couldn't function, I got home that night and just sat in my room in complete disbelief. I have never felt more alone than I did at that moment. I looked around and saw my Book of Mormon, I opened right to Alma 56:46 "For as I had ever called them my sons (for they were all of them very young) even so they said unto me: Father, behold our God is with us, and he will not suffer that we should fall; then let us go forth;" Immediately I felt the love of our savior wrap around me and I new that everything was going to be ok. I also new without a doubt that this gospel is true. And I wanted to share what I know with the world.

How I live my faith

Obviously the big one right now is my mission. But While I have been serving the great people of Alaska I have come to realize what it means to be truly converted to the gospel of Christ. I used to think that going to church on Sunday and attending seminary during the week with the occasional nightly scripture study was what it meant to be Mormon. But its so much more than that. When we are truly converted to the gospel, "with all our heart, might, mind and strength," then our love for the Savior and his atonement govern our every thought and action. I guess the way I try my faith is to do just that, Live it! I know I'm not perfect, but I also know that when I fall, the savior will be right there with arms outstretched ready to pick me up again.
