Hi I'm Sharon Dolinsky Chriswell

I am Ukrainian/American. I eat polish sausage, perogies and dance the polka. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mom. I married a man with a big heart. My children have given up their bedrooms for years. We've always had someone living with us; a brother, divorced families, whole families, wayward teens, and a lovely Italian student. When we thought we were empty nesters, three special souls came to stay and changed our lives forever (ages 4, 9 and 11.) Two weeks turned into two and a half years. The kids American mother was ill, and their Mexican daddy had to go back to Mexico. The children loved church, reading scriptures, family dinners, family prayer and Monday night Family Home Evenings. My husband and I felt stretched to the brim having young children in the home. Although they did not speak Spanish, and with all odds against them, the children had "hope" to reunite with their daddy. State services said "they'll never go to Tijuana." The children chose to keep the Sabbath Day Holy and they fasted once a month so that they could see their daddy again. After 2 1/2 yrs., the judge ruled for uniting family over adoption. These special spirits are now teaching their daddy about faith, tithing, and prayer. His eyes are full of joy when he hears his little boy say family prayer. A Church was built six blocks from their home in Tijuana. After visiting a few times, we offered to take them back to USA. The oldest replied, "we are with our daddy." Their sacrifice rings clear in our hearts that FAMILIES ARE FOREVER!!

Why I am a Mormon

When the missionaries told me that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ had visited a young boy, Joseph Smith and restored the true Church of Jesus Christ back on the earth, I believed it. Why couldn't it be true. Heavenly beings were visiting and conversing with prophets in the scriptures all the time. Why not now??? They asked me to pray and ask if it was true. When they told me that we lived as spirits before we came to earth, I always knew it in my heart and mind. They asked me to pray and ask if it was true. They asked me to read the Book of Mormon. I did NOT like to read. I didn't care to read it or the Bible. But, every time those young boys would teach me a principle of this Gospel, I had an overwhelming desire to want to be "good." I finally got down on my knees and asked Heavenly Father in the Name of Jesus Christ if the words that I was reading were true. The Book of Mormon is the word of God! Who are we to say that there can be no more "word" of God. Revelations was not the "last" book of the Bible. The Book of Mormon fills in the gaps and testifies more of Jesus Christ than any other book. To find out for yourself, you must READ it! I would hold back the tears every time they bore witness that Jesus Christ has once again opened the heavens, and has given mankind more of His holy word. I lost all my friends, my parents were ashamed of their Ukrainian daughter leaving the traditional family faith. I was a Catholic School girl. Although I was hurting my parents, I knew deep down in my heart that the choice I was making was for Jesus Christ and no other. I was taking up my cross. I took that leap of faith and was baptized. I am a Mormon because I had the FAITH to ask God in the name of Jesus Christ if it all was true (Moroni 10) and not worry about the rumors from non-mormons or what others might think. I know Heavenly Father has a purpose for me here on earth and has led me by the hand to embrace this Gospel.

How I live my faith

We have no paid ministry. I live my faith by studying the Bible and the Book of Mormon together. I look to no one as a stranger, and welcome them into my of and into my Church. I love telling the American Indians and Mexicans here in Arizona about their forefathers in the Book of Mormon. I love to profess Jesus Christ as my Savior, and that His church has been restored on the earth today in its fullest.
