Hi I'm Tara

I love Jesus Christ. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Southern California. I moved to Las Vegas when I was sixteen just after I returned from overseas as a live-in nanny. Now, I work as a part-time food server, a full-time Math and Science middle school teacher, and I study for my master's degree. I joined the church at the age of nineteen and was the only member of the church within my immediate family for four years until I married my husband who was raised in the church. We love our family members, and regardless of their choice of religious denomination or not, we continuously invite them to be a part of our church activity because we KNOW how sweet is it.

Why I am a Mormon

I was baptized as an infant into the Catholic church. With friends, I was able to experience other denominations such as Baptist, Lutheran, and "Mormon". The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is so different from other churches of this world. The buildings and members of this church have a warmth and sweet spirit that cannot be felt anywhere else as strongly. My brother was on a devastating path in his teenage years. In his lowest moment of hopelessness, he was inspired to seek the Book of Mormon. He had a miraculous experience and his life took a 180° change in perspective seemingly overnight. He asked if I would learn with him. Through earnest and faithful prayer, it was revealed to me that I have a Father in Heaven that loves me far beyond the limits of my comprehension. I know we are His children. I know He has a Son who lived on this earth, atoned for my sins and was resurrected so that I might too be able to return and live with Him again someday. I sustain the leaders of this church because I know they have been called of God to lead and guide us through this test. I know our happiness depends on utilizing our agency to obey the word of God. I want my family to be together forever and I know that it is possible through Jesus Christ and His plan of salvation. I know The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the one and only church on the earth today that offers the true and full gospel of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being peculiar and different from the world we live in. I do this by being an example of the things I know to be true and open to others who have questions about what I believe. I dedicate time to be of service to others even when it doesn't feel convenient to do so. Along with the full time Missionaries in our area, I visit and teach investigators of the church and help them recognize what the spirit feels like. I share my conversion story to strengthen my testimony and to exemplify that it is possible to change for the better through the atonement of Jesus Christ. I strengthen my personal relationship with my Father in Heaven through frequent prayer, reading scriptures, and helping others grow in the gospel. I request Sundays off from work so that I may focus my attention on serving the Lord and attending His church to renew the promises I've made with Him. I know that this way of life is not always easy, but I know it is worth it.
