Hi I'm Victor

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a pre-dental student that is absolutely obsessed with anything that has to do with microbes and am far too excited to work on anything that involves teeth. I am engaged to a wonderful woman that I plan to spend eternity with and to have a family that is raised in the light of the gospel of Jesus Christ. I love reading books in my free time, whenever I seem to have it, especially works by James Joyce and others of literary value and I dabble with the piano. I generally have a hymn in my heart, or on my lips, and I love to practice smiling as a neutral face.

Why I am a Mormon

I used to think I was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints because it made me happy, because I had found answers to questions that were found no where else--but what it comes down to, truly, deeply, is that God through His Spirit has confirmed to my very soul, in an undeniable way, that He has established His church upon the earth once again. In the year 1820 Joseph Smith, a young boy of the age fourteen, was seeking to find God, to come closer to Him, and to find the truth of God. While going about his search he visited the congregations of his times, listened to preachers, and read from the scriptures. While reading the Bible he read James 1:5 and decided to act according to what he read. In humble prayer Joseph Smith asked God which church was true so that he could join it. God the Father and Jesus Christ appeared to Joseph Smith and called him as a Prophet, to restore truth to the earth and the Church of God. That very fact, in that one sentence, has become pure knowledge to me. I know Joseph Smith saw God the Father and Jesus Christ, that Joseph Smith was called to be a Prophet and I know it as well as I know anything else.

How I live my faith

When one has faith, true faith, it is manifest in everything they do, the very walk they walk, and is almost tangible. I start my day by praying for the eyes to see where I can be an instrument in the Lord's hands, that I might be strengthened through His grace to do so and I go about my day listening to the whispering of the Spirit to be able to know when to act. When we seek His guidance in the scriptures we must be willing to change our behavior and to allow Him to change our nature that we might live in greater accordance to His words and His commandments.

Why was a Restoration of the Gospel needed? Haven’t we always had the Bible?

Victor
When Christ lived on the Earth he set up his church and his gospel--this included the Apostles, the Seventy, and other priesthood organizations that are now back on the Earth today. With Christ came authority to do the work in his church--to perform sacred ordinances such as baptism and confirmation, along with setting apart. When Christ and his apostles died so did this authority--these priesthood keys. The time that these keys were lost is called the Great Apostasy. Without these sacred priesthood keys such wonderful gifts such as baptism were lost and men and women could not move forward to be saved and washed clean of sins through the Atonement of Christ. Whilst the Bible is true, and will continue to be true, the authority that was lost when Christ died was needed back on the Earth to continue his work--this was done through the Restoration.
