Hi I'm Bethany

I love lame jokes, I love my very comfortable mattress, but most of all I love being a Mormon

About Me

I'm a student on sabbatical while I serve a full time mission. I'm the oldest of 8 kids so I figured out pretty quick how to make mac and cheese and change a diaper. I can quote most Phineas and Ferb episodes and I wish I could say my little sister made me watch them but I can't. I love learning new things and studying literature. I play lead alto sax in the Hardy family combo and I love feeling the spirit through music. I love airports because it means the start of an adventure or the warm fuzzies of coming home. I have amazing friends, awesome roommates, and incredible family. My lifelong dream is to be super good at whatever it is I decide to do. I never make a big decision until I've prayed about it and it's always been a great comfort in my life to know that I'm becoming who my Heavenly Father knows I can become.

Why I am a Mormon

I know that I've been blessed to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. My parents are amazing and I grew up learning about our Savior, the Book of Mormon and modern prophets. One of the best things they taught me was how to find the answers to my questions. Growing up I built on my testimony gradually through study and prayer. Now I have that foundation that gets me through every day. When things are tough I get to turn to the scriptures and my Heavenly Father. It's great to be alive and wake up everyday knowing that I'm a daughter of God. I'm a Mormon because I know (not just maybe sort of think) that the Book of Mormon and the Bible are the word of God and that when I pray I get answers.

How I live my faith

What I've realized is that I live my faith in every little action. Being a disciple of Jesus Christ should be a part of everything I do. I want people to know that I'm christian and that it means more to me than just a name. Attending church on Sunday brings me strength throughout the week and I try my very best to make Sunday a special day. The great thing about actually living my religion is that it brings me tons of happiness. Everyday I know that I am being watched over by a loving Heavenly Father and that I have a savior. Everyday I repent of the dumb things I do and try to get closer to that person I want to be. I'm serving a mission in the beautiful Washington Spokane mission and I've had the chance to serve in many different ways in my life. Living my faith is all about finding true joy and helping other people have that too.

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

We believe that just like the good samaritan in the bible, it is important to show kindness towards even those that don't worship as we do. Our savior asked us to love our neighbors and that's what faithful Latter Day Saints are trying to do all over the world. We recognize the countless acts of love and service from those not of our faith and we try to show that same christlike willingness to help others regardless of their beliefs or race.
