Hi I'm Janessa

I'm a college student. I love Christmas! And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a junior in college, currently studying math education and theater arts. Some of my other hobbies are star gazing, hiking, reading, and writing. My favorite holiday is Christmas, mostly because of the spirit that is felt at that time of year. But my favorite thing to do is to spend time with my family and friends.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a "mormon" because I have a testimony that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is Christ's church again restored on the earth. I haven't always had this testimony, even though I grew up in the church. But as I got older, I wanted to know for myself if what I had grown up with really was the truth. After reading the Book of Mormon and sincerely praying, God witnessed to my heart that the Book of Mormon is true, and that Joseph Smith truly was a prophet of God. I know that God answers prayers, and I know that the Book of Mormon is true.

How I live my faith

I was called to teach the 18 month-3 year old children. One of my favorite parts about teaching them was to see their sweet spirits. We would sing fun songs about Jesus Christ, and do other fun activities to help teach them that God loves and cares about them. I try and be the best example I can be. I read the scriptures every day, and do all I can to live the commandments of God.

How can I know Mormonism is true?

The only way to know if something is true, and from God is to ask Him. He is our Father in Heaven, and He loves us, so we can be assured that He will tell us the truth if we sincerely ask Him. But we have to do our part. We are here to learn. We have to take the time to study things out in our heart and truly have a desire to know, and the faith that He will answer. The way that He answers us is through the Holy Ghost. We will feel peace, joy, hope, and comfort. Those feelings come from God, and that is how He answers our prayers, and tells us that this is ture.
