Hi I'm Rebekah

I'm a daughter, a fiercely devoted friend, and a southern belle. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in a small town in Georgia, and although being LDS made me a minority, I wouldn't trade it for anything. I am so proud of my southern roots! Being a southern college student in the west, I get a lot of funny looks and remarks about the way I talk. But I love my accent; I love the fact that I "crank" the car, and I'm always "fixin" to go somewhere. I like to think I'm a positive person and that has been a long road coming, but I'm there now. I enjoy movies, storytelling, playing football and ultimate frisbee, cooking, laughing till I cry, dancing when I've had a rough day, and being with my dear friends and family.

Why I am a Mormon

Thankfully I was born into the faith as my parents were baptized long before, but that doesn't mean it was necessarily easy. I never really questioned why we went to church or believed the things we did, I just believed it to be true. But in the end I knew I needed to gain a testimony of my own. I'm a quiet thinker; when I have a question or an issue, I like to ponder it a long time before I vocalize it. I thought about all I had been taught, all I wanted from life and all I believed to be true. Then I posed the question in prayer: it it all real/true? Did angels descend? No. Did I hear a voice? No. But I felt a peace as I've never felt before; a warm feeling of assurance and love overcame me. And what I had once believed to be true, I now knew was true.

How I live my faith

I teach others about my faith through my example, the way I live my life. Actions speak louder than words. I treat others with more kindness than necessary, for we never know what battle they are facing daily. I'm not perfect and in this life I never will be; but that doesn't mean I can't be striving to improve myself both body and mind. I try to live the Word of Wisdom; eating healthy foods, refraining from addictive substances, and exercising as often as possible to keep my body healthy and in shape. It has been my deepest desire to serve others in any way possible and losing myself in that service, I find myself growing closer to my Savior.
