Hi I'm Jonathan

I'm an athlete, a student, a follower of Jesus Christ, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am from Utah and have 4 brothers and sisters. I served for 2 years as a missionary in the Texas Houston South Mission but now I am home and continuing my education. Before my mission I graduated high school, studied for a year at college, and loved sports-especially basketball and ultimate frisbee. I like art and I love spending time outdoors, especially in the mountains. It is a peaceful feeling getting up there to take a break from the world and take a breather from the never-ending stress of every day living. I have always been a pretty busy person. I love music and can play the piano, and I enjoy cooking and eating good food. I can speak spanish as a second language and love talking to people about just about anything and spending time with family and friends.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the church, but I still came to a point as a teenager to really want to know for myself if all these things I was learning at church were all worth it. I decided to read the Book of Mormon and ask God if it was true. One of my favorite scriptures that helps me in my testimony of Jesus Christ is that written by one of the Book of Mormon prophets named Alma (Alma 7:11-12) about what Jesus Christ went through for me. He suffered not only for my sins but also for every feeling, every sickness, emotion and everything that is possible to experience in this life. He knows me personally and is the only person that knows exactly what I am going through-because he has been there. I have come to know that he is there through my challenges in life and I have always felt him there when I desperately needed him or have felt alone. He is my perfect friend and is always there and willing to help. His arm of mercy is extended to all of us and as I have reached out for his hand, I have come to know that he is real; that he knows me and loves me and I know that he will do the same for every single one of us. That and many other witnesses of the Savior in the Book of Mormon and the Bible have helped strengthen my faith in Jesus Christ and using the two books together and seeing how they line up lets me know that they are both God's words given to us to help us in each of our lives.

How I live my faith

I am a man of action and I try to practice what I believe by doing it. That included giving 2 years of service as a missionary to the Lord, and now just serving those around me as Christ would every day. Through serving and loving others I am able to share the knowledge that I have of who God is and how happy we are when we live the way he has asked us to. I am so grateful for all that he has done for me in my life and I know that if I do not act on that by helping others attain that same faith, I wouldn't be living my faith. I am an Eagle Scout and have always tried to help the people around me in whatever way I can. I know I am not perfect, but helping others lets me focus on them and not think about my faults and challenges, and just be more optimistic! I try to look at others the way that Christ sees them and try to always share his love with everyone. I read scriptures and pray every day, go to church, serve others, and keep God's commandments because I know that by doing these things God will bless me and I will be happy. It hasn't made my life easy but it has made it worth working through my challenges and trying to become a better person. I know that this is the right way to live because I have tried it out and know through experience that this is the true church of Jesus Christ, and that as I constantly strive to improve and become a little more like him I am blessed.
