Hi I'm Linda

I'm a mom, a friend, a yoga fanatic, a scientist, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Northern Virginia in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley. I currently live in Baton Rouge, Louisiana where the people are loving, and the food is the best! I am the oldest of 5 children, and have 3 children of my own. I am a Medical Technologist currently working for the Dept. of Veteran's Affairs. I am blessed to have a wonderful, challenging career where I have an opportunity to serve others. I am a science nerd, and strive to improve so that my best becomes a little better each day. I practice yoga pretty intensely- almost daily. I love spending time with friends and family, reading, traveling, cooking, and laughing. I marvel at the spectacular beauty of the outdoors, and love hiking, camping and just about any physical activity. I am happiest when I am outdoors, reading the scriptures, listening to classical music, and practicing yoga. I have an adventurous spirit, and love to learn new things!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a convert to the church. I didn't come from a strong religious family. My father was Jewish, and my mother, a Baptist. They became converts to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints when I was 7 years old. They did not and become active in the church until I was 13 years old, and I was baptized at age 14. I was inactive in church during my college years, and became active 24 years ago. Being a member of the Church has brought me many blessings. First and foremost, I have great peace and happiness living the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I know that I have a loving Heavenly Father who knows me personally, by name! I know that what's important to me, is important to Him. I can talk to Him through prayer, in the name of my Savior Jesus Christ, at any time. Jesus Christ is His Son, my Savior and Redeemer. I know that He loves me-Linda! He is my best friend! I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet, and that we have a living prophet today, Thomas S. Monson. Like the prophets of old, he leads me to my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I know that the scriptures are true- the Bible and the Book of Mormon. They teach me about my Savior, and help me to draw close to Him. The second reason that living the Gospel brings me many blessings, is that I have an awesome, loving church family! I love them as much as my own family. We serve and love each other, and serve in the church together, which brings us very close. I love the assurance that anywhere that I go in the world, I have a church family that loves me! These blessings come through living the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and all are welcome to receive them.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to make my corner of the world a better place by being optimistic, doing my best and serving others. I currently serve in the the church in a leadership role teaching the children. How I love them! I have learned so much through teaching them about the Savior. I also have the opportunity to serve in the Boy Scouts as a committee member and merit badge counselor. I have also served in the women's organization as a teacher. My callings in the church have helped me in all areas in my life. They were not easy to accept at times, because they made me step out of my comfort zone. They have helped me to learn of my Savior, to feel of His love, to learn the value of prayer, and perserverance. I have been blessed in my employment through the church. Because of my church responsibilities, I have learned management skills, people skills, and have experienced the greatest amount of growth in my life. I am able to happily take on greater responsibility at work for which I am rewarded financially. I'm far from perfect, but I'm known as a person of great integrity in my work and personal life. I have also been blessed in my family as well, with strength in leading my children, and upholding unwaivering standards. When I have struggles the Gospel brings me peace, which is the greatest gift of all.
