Hi I'm Tanner

I'm a closet philosopher. Work makes me happy. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I like to think about the world and how I fit into it. I love books and travel and british TV, but I like farming and horses and hamburgers as well. I even cook occasionally. I grew up on a little farm in Idaho, and then moved to school, where I studied communications and classics. I love advertising. Now I serve in Northern England as a missionary for the church. I love all sports. On a good day I can read latin. I'm happy almost all the time.

Why I am a Mormon

I think we are on earth to be happy, and from my experience nothing makes me as happy as living the gospel of Jesus Christ. Everything about Mormonism makes sense to me logically and historically, but beyond that I really do feel power in it. I know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the restored church of Jesus Christ. I know that the gospel restored to Joseph Smith is not only the pathway to a happy and fulfilling life, but also the way to return to God when life ends. I didn't understand how beautiful or significant life was until I realized that we are all literally children of God and that we will stand before him again someday. That will be a good day. I love it that I can take everything I learn at church to God for positive confirmation, and that he answers my prayers. I'm a Mormon because I love God.

How I live my faith

I think a big part of being truly converted is submitting your will to God's. One of the ways I try to do this is by serving faithfully in the church. I appreciate the opportunities the church gives me to show the Lord that he can count on me. I have had the privilege to prepare, bless, and pass the sacrament to congregations, and the responsibility of visiting other members in their homes and offering them my help with whatever problems they had. My favorite calling so far has been as a Sunday School teacher. Now I try to help people understand Christ's Gospel as a missionary. I know that God sees every good thing we do and that he always blesses us for our efforts, no matter how weak. Like anybody else, I'm not perfect, but when I'm at my best the church is the most important thing in my life.
